Lee Hyori featuring Park Jiyong – Amor Mio
I’m having a hard time posting this video because no one has posted director credits or hints (not even Korean sources), so I’ve been doing research for the past hour without much success.
Anyway, Hyori has just released the third single off of her latest album, Momochrome, which I was discussing today with Ghost. Titled Amor Mio, the song was written by Hyori with music by Dsign Music, talking about painful separation from your lover to the best of Latin passion [1]. There are many golden verses in it:
Like that single red flower that has forgotten when to bloom and wither
I have lost my season, I don’t even have a fragrancevia pop!gasa
While Hyori may not have the best vocals — Ghost mentioned he could see Christina Aguilera belting for it — the greatest feature Amor Mio has (besides its giddy use of Spanish) is that it pushes Hyori’s voice squeezing out the best of her abilities, alongside Park Jiyong of Honey G who does most of the heavy-lifting of the song and plays supporting playing the piano on the music video, which… gave me a LOT of Singin’ in the Rain vibes.
If you’ve seen Singin’ in the Rain, you know which scene with empty backlot, backlights and flowy fabrics I’m talking about. I’ts quite gorgeous.
