Huang Ying was the second runner-up on China’s 2009 Super Girl contest — a show that has also spawned 2005 winner idol Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), 2005 first runner-up Bibi Zhou (Zhou Bichang), 2005 second runner-up Jane Zhang, and 2006 winner Laure Shang (Shang Wenjie).
Her debut single Big Sun (大太阳/Da Tai Yang) blends Chinese folk music with pop rock flare.
