Coley – Let Go (NSFW)

My new favorite psychopath has released the official music video for his second single Let Go. The song is more of his lyrical comedy and personal storytelling while the video takes on more of the same sarcasm and wit from his video for I Get Around [MV]. This time, instead of following our effervescent host around town, we get the story of Coley’s life through the eyes of a… five-year-old?

Indeed the pint-sized version of Coley may be the best interpretation of any adult ANYWHERE. The mannerisms, the way he lipsynchs the words, every part of this kid’s performance is sheer genius. And this is all before we even begin to dissect the nature of the lyrics themselves. It’s a clever way to tell one’s life story without falling into the same melancholy as other rappers who want to get something of their chests. Instead of cleaning out his closet, Coley’s more opening his coloring book, dumping out the crayons in his Crayola box, and drawing us a portrait that may be a wild amalgamation of stick figures and hand-traced turkeys, but it’s also honest and completely unapologetic. And that’s how we like ’em.

Man, he just keeps getting better and better!

Director: Dave Patten and Coley
When I find out who the “mini-pimp” — as Coley calls him — in the video is, I’ll add that info to the MV.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
