Calle 13 – Latinoamérica

Puerto Rico’s Calle 13 release their fifth single, Latinoamérica, from their fourth studio album Entren los que Quieran. The song, written and produced by Rafael Arcaute and Calle 13, features additional vocals from Peru’s Susana Baca, Colombia’s Totó la Momposina and Brazil’s Maria Rita.

The music video, shot in a period of 29 days between March and April of 2011 by Jorge Carmona and Milovan Radovic, places Calle 13 members Residente and Visitante at a radio station in the Peruvian Andes where a DJ speaking in Quechua introduces them. The video later shows several people across Peru, Colombia and Puerto Rico.

Calle 13 won me over after I saw a live performance of them at Viña this year on TV, they seem to be really fun – one day, I’d like to see them live. My father actually loves C13 because of their lyrics and he saw them live once (not alone), lol.

This video is pretty awesome and will easily stand out to me by the end of the year.

@Rodrigo, yeah it’s probably one of the highlight MVs of the year.

I’m not a big fan of Calle 13, generally half and half on his music. But even I can admit when something’s good. Roxanne and I were commenting about Latinoamerica almost a year ago on the album review. LOL
