Bom Park – Don’t Cry

Everybody is awaiting the comeback of sassy girl group 2NE1. To keep us at bay, YG has released this single by the main singer Bom Park.

All I can say is pretty much: meh. It’s good I guess, basic. Besides that nothing much going on with the song nor the video. All I can do is stare at Bom’s face. Is it me or does her face look even more plastic and stiff? Every time the camera did a close-up I kind of had to look away a little.

The video kind of reminds me of Taeyang’s I’ll Be There, very similar in the set, I guess. I was hoping for a repeat of Bom’s first solo single, You & I [MV], so I guess I’m a little disappointed.

Editor’s note: This music video was directed by Hyun Young-seong (현영성), who had previously directed 2NE1 and Big Bang’s Lollipop [MV], Gummy’s Sorry [MV], and Bom’s You & I.

Is Bom popular in Korea? Or does everyone just focus on CL and Minzy like it seems in the English-speaking crowd? xD

Sorry, I have nothing constructive to say about this song or video.

@amy, Well, considering the fact that this single rn is number one in every single chart in Korea: yes I think so.
From what I can gather from the non-Asian fans is that everyone is crazy about her voice. At the beginning (of 2NE1) I found her voice intriguing. It sounded so rich and deep. In this single? I don’t know but something about her voice is bothering me.

@Julili, I saw a performance of 2NE1 that I was recommended, and she did kind of a decent version of the Jackson 5’s I Want You Back.

I don’t really care much for 2NE1’s singing abilities, though I do believe Minzy’s got a lot of chispa. LOL

Am I the *only* one who doesn’t like Bom? She hurts my ears and sounds like a chipmunk.
