The Dozen: 2012’s 12 Best Tracks

AlunaGeorge – Just a Touch

Britain’s best new band. This song bumps, slinks and squeaks like a 90s mutha. Oh, and the voice behind it all? I wrote a little something in her honour once. It’s a long story which doesn’t need mentioning right now…

2NE1 – I Love You

Donna Summer died this year, but a little something of her shines through here. I’m not saying 2NE1 are in the same league as Summer of course, but I Love You = I Feel Love, no? It’s the same electro-synth euphoria, but packaged for a different people in a different time, phantom style.

M.I.A. – Bad Girls

M.I.A. did it well when she put this killer out way back in February. A week later, she was playing token rap girl in Madonna’s comeback shadow.  Let’s just all forget about that and live fast die young, OK? Goodbye 2012, goodbye x

Addendum: This *needs* to be added – Katy B and Jessie Ware, with a song named after Aaliyah (RIP)
