Rodrigo’s Top 15 Favorite Singles (2013-I)
5. Kanye West – Black Skinhead
My mad love for the trailer of Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street [1] has also translated to Kanye West’s song, regardless of the song’s lyricism.
4. Suede – Hit Me
The most fun Suede has sounded on their comeback album Bloodsports.
3. Foals – Late Night
Easily one of the best tracks from Holy Fire. I’m glad to say that I’ve been able to see them live, even if they were the opening act for Red Hot Chili Peppers in Lima two years ago.
2. Laura Mvula – Green Garden
What a soulful and upbeat tune. Production values and vocal power are stellar in Laura Mvula. If you enjoy this song, then go ahead and proceed to listen to Mvula’s Sing To The Moon album.
1. Daft Punk – Get Lucky
Tap your toes, snap your fingers, dance, smile… this song will make you want to do everything. Not only this is my favorite 2013 song at the moment, but it ranks high among my favorite Daft Punk songs and this is one of the best ways ever to use Pharrell Williams (vocally). And I also approve of Random Access Memories, in case you’re wondering.
Which songs were your favorite during the first half of 2013? Let me know about them.
LOL, I have only heard The Stars (Are Out Tonight) and Get Lucky :P
@mirella, Not even the songs from Justin Timberlake and Kanye West?
@Rodrigo, I have heard of them existing, but I haven’t listened to them :P
@mirella, You’re serious? Both are unavoidable… on the web at least. I can’t remember any local radio playing any of the songs here except for maybe Doble 9 playing Out Of My League, Get Lucky, Can’t Get Rid Of and Hit Me.
@Rodrigo, lol apparently I have easily avoided them xD
@mirella, Until Tom Hiddleston recommends them.
@Rodrigo, Nah, he only recommeds hipster music xD His musical taste is something I usually don’t agree with… except he does like Daft Punk. But I listened to the latest album before he recommended it.
It still made me laugh when he sorta recommended Nicki Minaj’s Starships.
@mirella, I remember the Minaj thing from your diary, lol. One day, he might suggest something from here.
I think I might have three or four matching tracks. I think it’s cheating, though, that MVs influence your picking of a song ;P
@amy, Now that you mention MVs, I didn’t pick Bad Motherfucker (which I forgot about it while making this). This list will change a lot by the end of the year, lol.
I don’t think we’ll ever match in songs (but some of the top songs, we might). One, I’m not into the Asian music scene as you are. Two, you don’t care about the stuff I might like.
@Rodrigo, true, true. It’s gonna be interesting to see everyone’s top lists, but you’re all so lazy to put them together sometimes hahaha
@amy, Juan always has his Top 25 film lists going on. Should I unleash my Top 25 of 2011 and 2012? Maybe as blog posts since it’s late for it to be feature-worthy.
@rodirgo – sure, go for it!
Get Lucky wins again
@giacomo, Still a fun track. Dunno if it’ll hold the #1 spot after the year ends, but as of now it is my #1 pick.
