Rodrigo: A Life In Music

1995: Soda Stereo (Sueño Stereo)

Julyssa already went with my favorite Oasis album, but Sueño Stereo is also great to listen to. How did I fell in love with Soda? I did like some of their songs playing on the radio already back then. But their 1997 concert at the Riber… pardon, River Plate stadium gained Soda Stereo a new legion of fans, myself included.

1996: Jamiroquai (Travelling Without Moving) | Suede (Coming Up) | Shakira (Pies Descalzos) | Backstreet Boys (Backstreet Boys)

Fuck it, I cannot ignore these four albums. While I did grew up with Jamiroquai, Shakira and Backstreet Boys at the time, Suede came into my life a couple of years later and Coming Up was glorious. 1996 might be one of the best years in music for me — let’s say I’m not including other albums that I also liked.

1997: Maná (Sueños Líquidos) | Molotov (¿Dónde Jugarán las Niñas?)

Both are from Mexico. Sueños Líquidos is Maná’s best album for me and Molotov made a kick-ass debut. Speaking of the title albums, Molotov’s parodies a previous Maná album (¿Donde Jugarán los Niños?).

1998: The Offspring (Americana) | Beastie Boys (Hello Nasty)

During a time when watching MTV was still okay, MTV made me like both The Offspring and the Beastie Boys thanks to the videos for Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) and Intergalactic. Both had good albums in 1998, but I prefer Americana a bit more.

1999: Limp Bizkit (Significant Other) | Incubus (Make Yourself)

I cannot ignore Limp Bizkit and Incubus for 1999. I know people still hate on Fred Durst, but I owe my love to Significant Other thanks to MTV, while my love towards Incubus began by listening to Pardon Me on Peruvian radio Doble 9. Both bands changed my life and detoured me for quite some time away from mainstream pop (I liked BSB, Spice Girls and a few other pop acts back then).

@Julili, Oh you guys are so predictable LOL using all the cool bands xD It was obvious people were going to battle it out for Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Greenday, The Strokes and Coldplay xD

I almost picked Franz Ferdinand’s second album just because I got to sign it.

I’m surprised Rodrigo picked Lily Allen xD – that’s her only good album, no? I almost… ALMOST picked Kate Nash’ Made of Bricks. xD
