La Felicità: Interview with Simona Molinari

You also did a duet with the great Gilberto Gil, how did that come about?

Gilberto Gil wrote a song about Brazil and Italy, and needed an Italian voice to go with him. He heard some demos, and at the end he chose mine. I was very proud of it, so it was a great experience!

What other musicians would you like to collaborate with?

I don’t have any idea of whom I’d like to collaborate with now, but I will be singing with Andrea Bocelli in his Italian concert on July 13th, and I’m very excited about it!

[You can get tickets to the show at Teatro del Silenzio on Viva Ticket]

Your latest album has Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde as a title, what is the Dr. Jekyll side of Simona Molinari, and what is her Mr. Hyde side?

I don’t know exactly! People always tell me that on stage I’m completely different from how I am in everyday life, and I feel it’s true.

What are the plans to promote your last album after the release of the first two singles. Where are you promoting it?

I think the best way to promote your own music is playing it live. I’ll be on tour across Italy this summer, starting on June 22nd, but I’d like to go back to the United States [Molinari was in New York last month] and tour soon.

Do you have any message to all the fans of your music that don’t necessarily speak Italian?

Hi, guys! One day I was jamming in a small club in Hong Kong and a black singer told me that “music doesn’t have languages, colors or race. If you sing with your soul, everyone can understand you.

You can follow Simona Molinari’s activities through Facebook and Twitter. An array of her albums are available through the various regions of iTunes.
