Hard Knock Life: Interview with HarryBigButton

Are there any memorable stage performance incidents? Anything funny or interesting?

Sungsoo : I think it was last year or maybe two years ago we were at Halloween party stage. Every other bands who played live at that night wore Halloween costumes.

We were the only band who didn’t wear any special costume. But in fact we turned out the most special ones as soon as I spoke to the audience. “Can’t you see? We wear no undies!” Rock’N’Roll!

Dae-Hui : There was an embarrassing moment some time ago. We were having a live gig in quite small size club and it was really hot (not talking about temperature) I was excited and I took my shirt off in the middle of the show. I heard some of audience shouted at me “Look at his beer belly! It’s cute!”. I was so embarrassed.

Neil : A few months ago we played a gig at one of most well known indie clubs in Seoul, Club FF. When we started playing our first song almost straight away the audience jumped on the stage and started going crazy. This continued for the whole show and several times I had to keep dodging people on the stage so I could play the songs properly!

How do you feel about the digital music age? Do you think it’s been helpful in spreading music? Do you miss the days of vinyl and CD’s at all?

Sungsoo : Distribution-wise digital medium is quicker and faster to spread your music than any other formats. At the same time it can be trashed in to your bin in a second If you know what I am saying. The album itself is a piece of art including cover art design, the song order which isn’t random but tells the whole story or concept of the album and some special photos and the names of engineers and staff who you will never find any where else as long as you just download mp3 files..and so on. Definitely I miss the analogue days when you could really touch and feel the things. I still prefer putting CD into my old audio system connected to big speakers!
