Five Reasons I Love YinYueTai

3. Fan Group Activity

Each artist in the database — because you can’t add videos of artists not in the database — has their own fan group, which contains fan forums, image galleries, biography of the artist, the video collection divided into MVs or live performances, news section, a list of all the members in the group, and it even has site moderators, or “heads”, who may be lucky enough to even get a small interview with their favorite stars if YinYueTai manages to get gigs/interviews.

In short, each artist in the YinYueTai database has its own full-on community.

2. Weekly Popularity Charts

Each week, there is a chart, just like in the good old days of the radio, where they show you which music videos have been the most watched, the most shared, the most recommended and most downloaded.

And it’s all divided by nationality of the singers. In the case above, it’s the most popular artists from Mainland China, instead of which artists are the most popular in Mainland China. Then we get this:

The most popular videos of artists from Taiwan/Hong Kong, USA, Korea and Japan.

YinYueTai still needs to work on their streaming speed. Though, I guess it’s difficult to calculate what you need when you get about 300M internet users all awaken at that time. It’s impossible to use it at around China’s peak hour.

@ghost, Weibo got really good with its loading times. Of course, it doesn’t have to deal with all the amount of information of a video streaming site, but still… loads of people sending information in and out of it.
