Dance Dance for your Life: Top10 Music Videos Featuring Dance
8. Vanessa Carlton – White Houses
Some of you may say… “what? White girl ahead of Ciara???” So I’m here to remind you that we’re not analyzing dancing, but music videos with dancing. In this simple music video directed by Sophie Muller, she manages to show us two sides to Vanessa Carlton — a certain encountered duality… all in one single room and no extra flash.
Sure, Carlton does a Zen-balancing-on-your-feet feature while hanging on wire — because that’s wire, right? One can never be 100% sure any longer — but this won’t be the last time we will see wires featured on this list.
What does knock this down was the setting of a studio with minimum set interaction… except for the playing on the piano part. The video also cuts much too many times to Carlton playing the piano, but leaves enough of solo dancing. – Amy
7. Example – Watch the Sun Come Up (The Devil’s Gun ‘Zeitgeist’ Remix)
Example, a.k.a. Elliot John Gleave, gets away with not doing his own dancing with a music video for The Devil’s Gun Zeigeist Remix version of Watch the Sun Come Up [MV], following British Gymnast Erin Jameson on her way to dance class as she bounces up and down the street, getting stared at by random passersby.
This music video, directed by Ben Newman, shows that you can dance… dance for your life any way you want. – Ghost
