Anything But Brainless – Interview With No Brain

What’s the most challenging thing about being in a band?

Sungwoo: Having to be with these four motherfuckers.

Dolly: Making money.

Sungwoo: In Korea.
You’ve been to SXSW 3 years in a row now, what do you like about the experiences that keep you coming back?
Sungwoo: We feel like Texas, Austin, is not in America. This is like our town feeling,

Dolly: Home town
Sungwoo: So comfortable. Three times make us really comfortable. So our keep, maybe going more feels more natural, like today.

Dolly: For me, I’m not here for visit, I’m here for friends.

Are there any collaborations you’d like to still perform with?

Yeah we hope so. With Judas Priest, or AC/DC.

Dolly Parton.

That would be really fun to see! You, and Dolly Parton!

Sungwoo: And Taylor Swift!

Have you seen any other performances while you were here?

This year, we hang around and just enjoy. Cuz maybe we are really comfortable in here and just hang around and drinking like [an] Austin person. We’re kind of too tired to watch the other guys shows, so this time is THE time to No Brain. So we just meet up with our friends and enjoy the time here. That is better than music for us.

Any last word for our readers?
Sungwoo: We’re going to release our new album, so maybe you guys can get our new album. So buy our CD, or buy our tshirts or something like that. We need dollars.

Since I’ve been a fan of No Brain for quite some time now, I really appreciate having the opportunity to sit down with them and have a chat. It sounds like Austin is a second home to them, and I hope they continue to make yearly treks to the city so  we can all get a chance to see them perform. They really light up a stage with their energy, and I never see a still body in the audience when they’re playing.

You can keep up with No Brain on Twitter & Facebook.

Their music is also available on iTunes, so go give them some dollars!
