Amy’s 2017 Music Highlights
Well, I haven’t been an active writer for so long. I thought I had gotten out of that “writer’s block” months ago, but I guess that wasn’t the case~ so dusting myself off, I hope I’m ready for a more productive 2018. LOL
It’s been a daunting task to make my music lists this 2017 because I’ve managed to listen to 230 titles this year! Totally beating my 2014 mark of 180. Though, taking out singles, it may be on par with my average of 160-170. It does feel like I’ve been listening to a lot of music because I’m having trouble thinking how to set up my upcoming Top50 Songs of 2017 post.
Observations- Tons of Korean music, where I’ve gone back to after years of not actively following. No OSTs, meaning… no Bollywood soundtrack has caught my ears this year so far. And basically not much Western music this year, which I’ve basically shunned. I’ve listened to it, but not quite dug much of it. These are also mostly albums, not minis, and I have considered multiple releases of the same artist this year.
So without further ado~ these are my Top20 favorite albums this year~~~
Warning: Heavy playlist load~~~
20. Ivana Wong (王菀之) – Much Feeling Little Thinking
I discovered Ivana Wong’s music last year, and her album titled Much Feeling Little Thinking is her first studio album since 2013, if you don’t count the instrumental, My First Piano Book, released in 2014. In it, she summarizes the last 4 years of her music releases, which culminate in three of my favorite songs of hers~ As One (如一) [MV], Zhi Hu Zhe Ye (之乎者也) [MV] and Damn Happy (該死的快樂) [MV].
You can get Ivana Wong’s Much Feeling Little Thinking on iTunes or KKBox.
Nice to read something from you again, Amy :)
more music and movie lists coming :)
oh wow, Ding Wei sounds really interesting. need to check her music out…
darn it I’ve been trying to write at least a review of The Villainess for here, but life/retail work has got in the way…
will still get the music post in sometime after Christmas.
my Puerto Rican relatives were all sharing the Latin Grammys performance of Residente’s “Hijos del Cañaveral ” he can be here and there on many issues but his heart is sincerely with Borinquen
Your music sharing is always welcome post-Xmas or NYE ^^
Residente wears his boricua on his sleeve :P I really admire his whole ‘going global’ with the music he’s making, though. His last two albums have been musically all over the place, literally.
