Amy’s 2015 Music Highlights
4. Junkie XL – Mad Max: Fury Road SoundTrack
The surprising soundtrack of the year~ Seriously, I don’t think anyone went in there thinking “the Fury Road music is gonna be so dope!” However, Miller’s use of the medium made it possible for Junkie XL to complement Mad Max: Fury Road in its most memorable sequences to become an experience on their own.
3. The Murky Crows (昏鴉) – Everything Isn’t Wiped Out by Scientific Law (一切不滅定律)
Taiwanese band The Murky Crows with their second album, which I’ve translated to my own Chinese abilities, so no judging. To be honest, I don’t know much about the band- the credits on Facebook say that the lead of the band is Zhong Li (中立), Da Ku (大酷) in the guitar, Jie Lin (杰霖) in the bass, Hui Yan (輝彥) in the violin Yi Xiu (易修) in the drums, and… there’s a juggler (?) called Da Kuan (大寬).
Their style in this album is pretty eclectic, part Taiwan folksy pop rock part artsy bedtime story; I didn’t find any English title for the songs but they range from Milky Way Winter Love Song (銀河冬令戀曲), to In Order to Stop the Dying Prince (為了已死去的王子), Thy Kingdom Glory (願你的王國榮耀), and Living Inside a Wolf’s Stomach (住進狼胃裡), which are some of my favorite tracks in the album. Definitely a complete and orderly album listen.
