Amy’s 2015 Music Highlights
7. Son Lux – Bones
* I’ve just been really unlucky with geo-blocked tracks on YouTube.
6. Suiyoubi no Campanella (水曜日のカンパネラ) – Zipang (ジパング)
This one is one of my favorite discoveries of the year— I wonder if Suiyoubi no Campanella (which means Wednesday’s Little Bell) has a short version of their name like Japanese bands tend to have. Their sound is best described as Japanese indie electro dance pop.
You’re lucky to be able to sample about half her album on YouTube, if it ain’t playing weird geoblock games.
You can try checking the album on iTunes, though I don’t get it in my store. If you’re a hardcore music fan, go ahead try to get it physically on Amazon Japan or HMV JP. The last time I purchased anything from there, shipping was still $20 USD.
5. San E – The Boy Who Cried Wolf (양치기 소년)
Every once in a while, I tend to like a rap/hip hop album– I kinda dug Simon D’s Simon Dominic Presents “SNL LEAGUE BEGINS” back in 2011, and last year Calle 13 (against all odds) topped my list. This year, San E caught my attention because he reminded me of late-90s early-noughties Eminem. Only I can’t understand a single word, though I still enjoy every verse that flows.
