A Touch of Tradition: Interview with SU:M

Is this your first time performing in the United States? What have the audience reactions been like?

Jiha: For SU:M this is the first time, but each of us has been here before.
As different groups?
Jiha: Yeah, another group.
You’ve had two shows already?
Jiha:
Yeah, already two.
So how was the audience reaction for your first two shows?
Jiha: Yesterday, at the Paramount theater, the whole audience stood up and clapped. We very appreciate that.
You had good reactions? Had a fun time?
Jiha:
It’s a good theater.
Good sound?
Jiha: Yeah.

Have you had a chance to catch any shows here in Austin? Was there anyone you really wanted to see perform before coming here?
Jiha: I tried to hear a conference, but I can’t understand everything. *laughs*

What have been some of your favorite performance memories?

Jiha: Last year we went to Poland, that was the first time that many guests came to our concert, almost 2,000 people. They really liked our music, and our CD sold out. So afterwards we post [mail] more CD’s to them.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with YAM – any words for our readers?

Jiha: Thank you for the interview, and many American people listen to K-pop, but our music is not K-Pop. So if you want to listen to another kind of Korean music, you guys should listen to SU:M’s music.

You can keep up with SU:M on their Facebook page, as well as purchase their latest album 2nd from iTunes.
