100 Songs of Chinese Music

44. You’re Not Truly Happy (你不是真正的快樂) – Mayday (五月天) [MV]

I really didn’t mean for this to be such a bad luck entry. LOL

45. All the Same (都一样) – Underbaby (地下婴儿)

I didn’t know I could find this track on YouTube! You can also find some tracks on their Douban page, as well as Xiami.

46. Beijing Welcomes You (北京歡迎你) – Various Artists

This song is basically this whole list of 100 artists, except they show other people that I don’t. xD

47. Black Eat Black (黑吃黑) – A-Mei Chang (張惠妹) [MV]

The birth of AMIT.

48. Endless Waves in Honghu Lake (洪湖水浪打浪) – Chang Shilei (常石磊)

I get chills every single time I listen to Chang Shilei’s 2009 album Niu China.

49. Oh Yeah!!! – Crowd Lu (盧廣仲) [MV]

50. Tikiville – Joanna Wang (王若琳)

Joanna Wang might be rebelling against Sony and the people that loved her jazzy (cafe) debut with albums like Galaxy Crisis and her latest Bob Music. However, I still think she struck the perfect balance with her 2009 and 2011 releases of The Adult Storybook and The Adventures of Bernie the Schoolboy. And that includes the in-between Joanna & 王若琳, no?

Tikiville is a good example, right?

51. Oh, Easy (喔伊細) – LaLa Hsu (徐佳瑩) [MV]

LaLa is the best represented in this list. I think she shows up three times- this is her first.

52. Flying the Roof (天台飛人) – RubberBand [MV]

53. Spring Days (春天里) – Wang Feng (汪峰)

Wang Feng also has a couple of other staple songs full of feels, which include Beijing, Beijing (北京北京) [MV] and Existence (存在) [MV].

54. White (白) – White

Probably the hardest thing to look for when you have to YT “white”. This is an extract of the band’s 2009 album… surprisingly (and annoyingly) titled White. [update: Bandcamp link found][Xiami]

55. Empty City (空城) – Yang Kun (杨坤) [MV]

  1. Such a great feature! “Mama Get Me a Guitar” is cute. The Chin Tsai song is so good- what is the title? Either characters or pinyin romanization. Wow at Ding Wei. Laure Shang has such a cool voice. And I’ve probably said before that I really like the clarity of the voices of the Tibetan/-influenced? singers.

The Chin Tsai song is The Forgotten Times (被遺忘的時光) :) – and yes, they all have such quality to their voice. I love it.

My favorite new one is #4, Chinese Cabbage. Every time it comes on, I have to sing lol and my mom was listening to it, and translated saying it’s a super sad song! Something about not having your mom and your dad re-marrying, and being poor with your brother having something to wear and something to eat, while you are left with just broth and asking for something to wear.

You have to be grateful of the excess many live in now, the biggest complain has to be that iPhones and Galaxy phones are getting bigger. Seriously. Grateful for the food that I enjoy every single day.
