Food, Celebrity Portraits, and Food Culture

Classic Hollywood Food~

Remember when studios used to hire photographers to follow their stars all freaking day long, sometimes even arranging photoshoots at their stars’ homes, so that fans could see the glamorous life of a Hollywood star? The paparazzi follow our stars now, but damn do they deliver some cheap photos. It’s not so much creating a mood any longer, capturing that classic moment, it’s about shooting as much as possible and see what celebrity magazines pick…

So we’re deprived of such golden arranged “snapshots” ~

Of course, in this day an age, it’s impossible to get a close shot such as this… especially with Marilyn’s look in her eyes. I don’t even know if she ate the hamburger, but boy does she look glam doing it.

Or maybe things just look too good in black and white? In any case, photos such as this are now left to professional shoots in magazines’ pages. And I don’t know why I’m so sure James Franco’s ego just got a stroke by having his photo in this section.

The most interesting thing to see is how different the Bon Appetit cover looks to any other cover. Gwyneth has FRECKLES??? When did she ever have freckles?

Can Bjork’s Swan dress count as food? Do people eat swan? Maybe someone should get a goose dress next.

About Classic Hollywood, I think… Marylin did like eating, so there’s a big chance she’s eating that burger. Then again, the Hollywood machine could have fabricated that idea as well. We… may… never actually know.

@ghost, That’s why I don’t usually go for fashion shoots. American Vogue, Bazaar, etc. They all apply a HEAVY layer to erase imperfection that… it makes them all look flat and plastic. I mean, a little photoshop it’s okay, I don’t mind a little bit of clean up, but things have gotten so out of hand.

About Marilyn… PR machine? xD I think it’s hard to tarnish the PR of a star that has already gone. PR is an interesting thing to study, but a precious thing to just stay away from. xD
