YAM Loves: Doona Bae
What’s to be expected of Doona Bae these coming years?
First, Bae will be playing half of a South and North Korean table tennis team that competed at the 1991 World Table Tennis Championship in Chiba, Japan, titled As One (코리아, a.k.a. Korea). Next up? Bae’s Hollywood debut on The Wachowskis Brothers’ and Tom Tykwer’s adaptation of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas, where she will be playing Sonmi~451 — a clone that is being interviewed before her execution after rebelling against her oppressor.
Her strong character and her work ethic are what make Doona Bae a stand out amongst the vast sea of actors worldwide, who consider themselves superior over people who are simply competent. Bae is humble about her beginnings as an actress and continues to shine at what she does without ever giving herself airs of superiority [1].
I think I’m lucky not to be so pretty that every man admires me. That means that I can play characters that other actresses can’t. I want to be an actress favored more by women than men.
You are doing a great job, Doona. Keep it up, keep it up!

Thanks for posting all the BDN love, she’s amazing and I adore her. It’s good to see her finally get more attention.
@Jara, she deserves all the attention and more… I hope I get to see As One soon.
She is in Air doll of Koreeda too, one of her best performance. I love this movie and Doona too of course. Greetings!
@Mario Salazar, yes, of course! That’s on page 3 :)
I did not see the rest of the pages, great!
@Mario Salazar, no worries! Was Air Doll your first Doona Bae movie? Where did you first see her?
I saw her in 4 o 5 movies, i will keep see her in the rest of her Filmography. I like too much Air doll, this is one of my favorite movies, but I saw her for first time in Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance but she did not impress me (even that she was really good) but i started to know her, and when late i saw kooreeda´s movie, I fell in love. Nice post. Greeting!
@Mario Salazar, you should really watch Barking Dogs Never Bite and Linda Linda Linda (and Take Care of my Cat), for sure. :) Also, now that Cloud Atlas is out, it’s probably a must for Doona fans as well :)
Are you still followinf Bae Doona’s works?
Yes, we are!
