Are you excited to watch The Sound of Music?
Jonathan Del Arco: Yes, very. It’s my favorite movie.

What do you love about it?
JdA: I loved it when I first saw it as a kid and the effect it’s had on me. I saw it in Uruguay actually, so I saw it in Spanish. It was called La Novicia Rebelde (The Rebel Novice).

What?
JdA: Like, The Crazy Nun. I saw it subtitled.

How old were you when you saw it without subtitles?
JdA: When I moved to America when I was ten, I saw it on TV.

Was it a different experience?
JdA: No, because by then I’d learned English *laughs* so I was able to understand it much clearer.

Do you have a favorite song? Can you sing one?
JdA: No. *laughs* I have a lot of favorite songs from it, but you’re not gonna get me to sing one! *laugh*

Okay, which one’s your favorite?
JdA: Probably… uhh- I can’t pick one!

I really love My Favorite Things.
JdA: My Favorite Things is great. The sequence for that in the movie is great. I love the one they do with the puppets

The little goatherd one!
JdA: Yes! [Julie Andrews appears] Oh my God, royalty coming through! With umbrellas and everything!
