TCM Classic Film Festival 2013
Now in its 4th year, the Turner Classic Movies Classic Film Festival is a whirlwind celebration of classic cinema spread throughout four jam-packed days. This year’s festival kicked off with a red carpet and gala presentation of the 35th anniversary restoration of Funny Girl.
Other films presented that night included:
- Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing
- Ernst Lubitsch’s Ninotchka
- A sold out screening of William A. Wellman’s Safe in Hell presented by Donald Bogle and William Wellman, Jr, who discussed how the film is an important part of African American cinematic history.
- A poolside screening of South Pacific, complete with fire dancers and an introduction by the film’s star Mitzi Gaynor.
