Propaganda: Movies and their Message
Forward a couple of years. In contrast to The Lion King, V for Vendetta has a completely different point of view of “the lowly people” and what “the authority” means. It mirrors perfectly the way people’s thinking is evolving or devolving — your pick — throughout the years.
In 2009’s Avatar, this way of thinking escalates one more step — “advanced” society has become the source of all evil, sucking everything dry and taking others with them. We must convert and fight the good fight.
Last year alone, we had the not-so successful In Time, where the currency of oppression was time, and the successful Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where human greed and superiority oppressed “the lowly” chimpanzees. During the whole movie, where did you stand?
