Noir City X: Q&A With Angie Dickinson

AD: [On how she got cast in Ocean’s 11] So Sammy Davis said to me, “I said to Frank — Hey Angie would be a gas to play your wife.” And I guess Frank agreed. No hanky-panky.

EM: So what’s it like shooting a picture with those guys? They’re like legendary characters. Now it’s such a larger than life thing. And you were, you know, the Rat Pack’s drinking buddy, favorite gal.
AD: It wasn’t as often that we all got together. . .

EM: Don’t spoil it!
AD: I did have the good fortune to hang out with those fantastic men.

EM: Okay, so when you guys got together, what did you guys do for fun?
AD: We were the fun.

EM: I would be remiss if I didn’t ask about the legendary stories about you and President Jack Kennedy.
AD: Oh my god! What have I gotten myself into? They told me you were so wonderful.

EM: I am completely innocent here.
AD: What do you want to know?

EM: Whatever you want to tell me.
AD: I think we can all agree that President Kennedy was a fantastic president, and don’t we wish he was running now? I campaigned for Senator John F, Kennedy in 1960 in a brainstorming story. I was feverish to have him win, as many of us were. I just can’t say enough how lucky I was to be in the midst of that entire family on several occasions of wonderful, wonderful days and evenings of glorious pleasure.
