2011 – 1939 Film Blogathon

YAM Magazine is crashing the Classic Movie Blog Association‘s party by unofficially participating in its members only 1939 Film Blogathon, and hosting every non-CMBA-member post about anything of 1939 worldwide cinema.

Event starts on May 15 until May 17, and is opened to anyone who wants to crash the party. You can talk about anything related to 1939 Film from around the world.

We will fight you for Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz!

This is awesome, I’ll check and see if Vikram (one of our writers) has reviewed a classic film from this year. In the meantime, I am shocked that finally a blogathon has some nice graphics to represent itself. So refreshing, i love you guys!

      Compliment taken, Marcello. Compliment taken.

Though, there’s little we can mess up with a face such as Greta’s ;D

Hopefully you’ll have time for a post, it’s not often we current movies folk get to talk about all these films.

  2. Vincent says:

    Love the “Ninotchka” headers; exquisite.

I’ve been a CMBA member for some time and also participated in their 1939 blogathon. My entry was on “Made For Each Other” and how it helped kick off a banner year for James Stewart:

@Vincent, that’s cool. We got in a bit of trouble with the CMBA because of this – but we’re glad you comment =).

Thanks for the Ninotchka header comments.

  3. Vincent says:

Oh, I’m Vincent (not sure how the last letter in the name was left off), and you all are cordially invited to visit my site, “Carole & Co.”, focusing on Lombard, her life and times and people she knew and worked with.

    • yam magazine says:

@Vincent, we know not very much about Lombard, just of Gable’s undying love for her, and the tragedy. Got a list of (let’s say five) top Lombard movies we should see?

  4. oh I just noticed that my review of Midnight never got added! http://www.yam-mag.com/reviews/film-reviews/midnight/

  5. Joel Burman says:

What was the issue with CMBA’s blogathon? Did they exclude their own members from participating?

    • yam magazine says:

@Joel Burman, the 1939 Blogathon was a members-only thing, but we wanted to participate so we crashed their party. We were adamant in promoting them, but they took offense because of that – having the banners and all.

In short: we rained on their parade apparently.

Some CMBA members are fine with it, though. They’ve visited the site and left comments. Some others aren’t.
