The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Your pal, your buddy, your Bucky

MONDAY

Here’s the first look at Chris Hemsworth in Ghostbusters! And he looks deliciously dorky! Is he going to be the nerdy receptionist who doesn’t realize he’s hot? I certainly hope so!

Warner Bros. announced that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has started production! Just so you remember, the main character, Newt Scamander, is being played by Academy Award Winner and occasionally hammy actor Eddie Redmayne, and David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies, will direct it.

Apparently we will get a Scooby-Doo animated movie in 2018. But what’s so special? Don’t we get Scooby-Doo movies once in a while. Not a theatrical release we don’t! Yup, Scooby-Doo and his human friends are back to cinemas and this time animated.

J.J. Abrams talked about Captain Phasma (played by awesome Gwendoline Christie), a villain with a cool armor we will see in Star Wars: The Force Awakens:

I can only say that Gwendoline Christie is my favorite. She just killed it. You think, “Well, what? she’s wearing a costume.” But it’s a lot to wear and to have a performance when you’re wearing that requires a different kind of skill set and an additional talent, and she’s got it. It’s an incredible thing to work with her. I am glad that a character has been designed that is visually as stunning as that is, because she deserves it and the fans do to. When I first saw that design my mind was blown because it looked so undeniable.

Back to Chris Evans once more talking about Captain America: Civil War, specially why Bucky is so important to him. Besides being his original BFF, that is:

To have a character who’s always taking his conflict in such a personal manner, when he has the opportunity to reconnect in a way that could be purely self-serving — it’s not for the greater good, it’s not for anyone else, it’s just for him and he’s put himself last so often, so many times — when you have a character that just remembers him and he has a flash of personal agenda, it’s rewarding. I like it. I like those moments where Cap gets to have a little nugget just for himself.

So talking about Captain America’s two BFFs, here they are running towards something with a lot intent and intensity in their faces. Does the winner gets the title of Steve Rogers’ Ultimate BFF? I’d like to think so. Very unlikely. But the heart wants what the heart wants:

While waiting for her plane to board, Hayley Atwell answered some fan questions on twitter, ranging from her favorite color (“I’m not 6 years old. I don’t have one.”) to how is Chris Evans on set (“hilarious, charming, kind”). But most importantly, she got asked if she would like to be in Doctor Who. Fools, she’ll like to BE Doctor Who (guess she’s the kind of old-fashioned fan who would call The Doctor, Doctor Who). Now I want this. Also, we can have The Rock as her companion. I don’t care he’s not British!

TUESDAY

Disney shared the extended version of The Lion Guard clip we saw last week, complete with new cutesy song! Here’s also a brief synopsis:

Kion leads The Lion Guard, traditionally comprised of the bravest, strongest and fastest animals of the Pride Lands. However, he breaks with tradition and instead recruits his friends: Bunga, a blustery honey badger; Ono, a smarty-pants egret; Fuli, a confident cheetah; and Beshte, a friendly hippo.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve regularly watched professional wrestling, but WWE gave me a couple of reason to watch the Summerslam: Arrow‘s Stephen Amell wrestling Stardust on the ring, and  Jon Stewart hosting the event. Thanks for that!
