The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Wicked and Divine adaptations~

TUESDAY

Variety has unleashed three new images for three geeky upcoming shows: Supergirl, Fear The Walking Dead and Heroes Reborn! Melissa Benoist still looks cute as Supergirl~

Robert Rodriguez is going to write (along with Pirates of the Caribbean/The Mask of Zorry Terry Rossio) and direct and live-action adaptation of Jonny Quest. You know, that Hanna-Barbera cartoon about the kid who travels around the world with scientist dad, orphan best friend, pet bulldog and their bodyguard. I remember the newer one where the kids turned into teenagers and the bodyguard’s daughter joined the team. Because they needed a girl, obviously! Sure, I will watch this movie. I wonder if it will turn out like Spy Kids?

Here’s another (future) documentary about a movie that wasn’t. Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller is reaping a lot of good faith from all of us who watched the movie, therefore we might be interested in a documentary about his canceled Justice League film. At least I know I am! OK, it had D.J. Cotrona hired as Superman, and Armie Hammer as Batman; and that’s kinda meh. But it included Vuvalini Valkyrie Megan Gale as Wonder Woman!

WEDNESDAY

Doctor Who is back at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) this year, and it will hava a panel in Hall H! Not only it will be Peter Capaldi’s first Comic Con, but he will come with Jenna Coleman (Clara) and Michelle Gomez (Missy)! Capaldi seems super giddy about it!

Tales of San Diego Comic-Con are told in awe on every set around the known fantasy/sci-fi production world. It’s become a fabled kingdom. One I am thrilled to find myself heading for. And to appear in the legendary Hall H, is a further twist to the cosplay and comic madness I may never recover from.

David Duchovny got very emotional over the new X-Files script, and he seem “open ended about what happens after this”. Maybe more small seasons? Whatever it turns out to be, his feels gave me the feels~

I got the first script this morning. I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page. It was just so strange to see the names on the page. It had nothing to do with the script itself. It was just like, I’d been talking about this for a long time. We’d been planning it for a long time. It took a long time to get all the people in the same place and get the deal with Fox. So let’s say two years we’ve been talking about doing it. Now it’s the fun part. Now we actually get to do it. That was nice and strangely emotional for me, and I’ll have to figure out how to use that [in the performance].

OMG! Tilda Swinton is in talks to be in Doctor Strange! And who could she be playing? Well, she could be Benedict Cumberbatch’s mentor. Yep, the Ancient One, a Tibetan mystic  who is training pupils to be the next sorcerer supreme… and that could be a problem. Sure, I don’t mind turning male characters into female ones. But taking a POC role… that’s a bit tricky. I love Tilda, I truly do. But maybe an Asian lady if they totally want a lady?

Because apparently superheros can’t simply not be without a love interest, we could have Chris Pine as Wonder Woman‘s Steve Trevor. The role could have been Scott Eastwood’s (more nepotism!), but in the end the decided to work in Suicide Squad. Originally, Steve Trevor is an US intelligence officer during World War II whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, and there she meet Diana/Wonder Woman. So yeah, I expect some things will have to be changed.

Here’s a list of white ladies eyed for the role of two sisters for J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-offf, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Trilogy. While I don’t mind Saoirse Ronan or Dakota Fanning getting either of those roles… what the hell, Warner! Kate Upton?

And continuing the list of thing I am not sure about, Fox is going to reboot League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. You know, that horrid adaptation of a comicbook that ’cause Sean Connery to give up acting. But sure, they can make a better version now! I wonder if crazy uncle Alan Moore is froothing at the mouth already.

Now for something different, here’s a meme adaptation into a comicbook! Grumpy Cat and her brother Pokey are getting a three-issue series. And it’s plenty adorable:
