The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: What time is it? It’s casting time!

FRIDAY

Let’s start with this:

Yep. Khal Drogo and Tyrion Lannister are going places!

From Thursday’s info, you know Peter Dinklage is going to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Today we know that, according to MTV, he might be Bolivar Trask, the inventor of the Sentinels. You know, those ugly huge robots that hunt mutants. Now, Trask is not entirely evil, and Variety did say “main antagonist” and not “villain”, so it fits!

But he’s not the only Game of Thrones dude that got involved with Marvel superhero business. Latino Review says Jason Momoa might be Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy. Of course, then one guy from The Hollywood Reporter says he has been tested but not offered the part yet. But now that they have planted the idea in my head, I really want it to be true! It saddened me that Conan the Barbarian was kinda crappy, because Jason was so delicious in it. Oh, casting dudes of MCU, please keep spoiling us with the eye candy~

In other knews about big, beautiful men, here’s an interview with Dwayne Johnson who talks about his possible Hercules role and how much he fanboys him. Sadly, he won’t be Lobo in a DC movie anymore. Oh well, guess he’s saving himself for Black Adam?

More casting news this way with a trio of good-looking Europeans in the newest adaptation of a John Le Carre’s spy thriller book. Our Kind Of Traitor has Ewan McGregor as a sure thing, and Ralph Fiennes and Mads Mikkelsen in “advanced negotiations”.

Wow, apparently Harrison Ford could return as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII. It’s not a done deal, but maybe in the near future. I am still not sure about adding people from the original trilogy, but I tend to trust Disney.

Total Film has Pacific Rim on its cover and delivers some kick-ass concept art:

They also had an interview with a very enthusiastic Henry Cavill who quite loved being Superman in Man of Steel:

I love wearing the suit! You put it on every morning and you feel fantastic. I mean, you’re wearing a Superman suit, for goodness sake!

He’s also sure that a decision regarding Justice League will be reached after Man of Steel‘s opening weekend.

Finally, John Finnemore talks in his blog about the ending of sitcom Cabin Pressure and his surprise at the fans’ reactions. Yeah, the man didn’t realise that he made fans cry because of a cliffhanger.

I predicted a certain amount of frustration about ending on a cliff-hanger, but I’m completely taken aback by the amount of crying I’ve apparently caused. Look, I don’t mean to be an insensitive bastard, but… what’s so sad? […] God help me, I actually thought it was quite a warm fuzzy episode. But apparently I’ve accidentally written King Lear.

Oh dear. Mr. Finnemore clearly doesn’t get fanboys and fangirls. But then, he told us something I already noticed and was the reason why I was more anxious than teary and was waiting for the confirmation:

It is not and never was my intention that Yverdon should be the last ever episode of Cabin Pressure. I mean, come on guys, give me some credit. A to Y?

BTW, Cabin Pressure got nominated for Best Radio Programme at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in UK. Totally deserved. It’s been a while since I’ve been into a radio show so much!

And that’s it for the week. But before I go, It’s Concept Art Time! Yes, this week we have awesome concept art from Thor, Men in Black 3 and Snow White & The Hunstman [1]; webbing and web-shooters from The Amazing Spider-Man [2]; members of the Green Lantern Corps from the Green Lantern movie [3]; and creature designs from Star Trek and Prometheus [4].
