The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: What Justice looks like

THURSDAY

Warner Bros. and DC Films debuted the logos for Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman. Which is fine and dandy since all those characters were talked about in the special. But the, a logo for Green Lantern Corps was also revealed, though no Green Lantern movie has been announced. Guess we will have news soon!

There will be another Benedict in Doctor Strange besides Cumberbatch! Benedict Wong will be in the film as… well… Wong. The character is usually Stephen’s manservant and BFF, but there is no word on how he will be portrayed in the upcoming movie. It’s actually kinda surprising since people thought the character had just been cut from the film.

It’s rumor time, and there could be multiple major deaths in Captain America: Civil War! But who will kick the bucket besides Peggy Carter, who had a reported funeral. Apparently three death scenes were filmed, involving Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and Falcon. But only one is an actual death of a character—one will leave the involved hero critically wounded, and the other will be a misdirect. Well, I really really hope that character doesn’t die because it will suck in so many levels!

X-Men: Apocalypse screenwriter Simon Kinberg said the planning process of who would become Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen was like “doing fan-fiction”. To which I say, hell yeah!

We just kind of sat there, the way that anybody would—rather you were in a role playing game or a video game or doing fan fiction—and it was like, who are the coolest characters you wanna see? And who are interesting combinations with one another, and who are interesting foils for the heroes of the movie?

Lana Condor talked what’s different and what’s the same in her Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse. She’s also very adorable, what with spelling out her curses instead of just saying them!

Her power in the comic books is fireworks. In this film, I can safely say that her power is more fire-plasmoid, electricity type. […] And, I think in this film she serves as a timepiece, ‘cause you’ll never really forget that you’re, like, in the ‘80’s. Because if you’ve seen my costume, like I’m straight out of the ‘80’s, like, they literally took me out. And, she also serves as kind of comedic relief at times where things are-might be a little more tense and real S-H-I-T is going down.

So, James Cameron’s Avatar 2 won’t be ready for Christmas 2017. Will it ever be? For those keeping track: In October 2010, they said Avatar 2 will open in December 2014; in January 2012, they were like nah it’ll open in December 2015; in Aug ust 2013, they were I totally meant December 2016; and in January 2015, they were like it’s definitely going to be in December 2017 for realsies! So when? Well, currently there is no new release date set for the movie, or word on the two other sequels, which Fox had planned to release around the same holiday in 2018 and 2019.

FRIDAY

OMG! Steven Moffat is departing BBC’s Doctor Who! It’s the end of the Moffat Era! OMG! But He will be keeping things within the Doctor Who family, since his replacement is Chris Chibnall, who wrote for Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood (and he’s also the creator of acclaimed drama Broadchurch, Starring former Tenth Doctor, David Tennant). Whatever, you better keep Peter Capaldi in the show though!

We saw the Sony Pictures trailer, but here’s the BBC One’s Trailer for The Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie!

So Labyrinth will get a reboot. NOOOOO! How dare you! OK, it is unclear if the new take is a reimagining or a sequel. But I care not. Who the hell they think can replace David Bowie! They better not have as bland a short list as young Han Solo has! Anyway, Nicole Perlman, co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel, will write the script.

DC Comics will relaunch everything with #1s… again… in June. And the new line even more dominated with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad-related titles. So yeah, if the comicbook has a tie-in with a film or TV show, you are safe, if not… pray? The writers of the article seem a bit worried for Green Lantern. But hey, they did showed up a logo early in the week, right? Even if a movie has no date yet!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to John Carpenter, James Earl Jones, Betty White, Jim Carrey, Dave Bautista, Evan Peters, Geena Davis and John Hurt.
