The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: What Justice looks like

TUESDAY

Warner Bros. gave us our first look at the Justice League in preparation to the not so greatly titled special DC Films Presents: The Dawn of the Justice League. And they look fine! Also, in the special proper we had our first footage of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. And some more concept art of Aquaman, the Flash, and Cyborg.

We also had the previously mentioned Suicide Squad trailer, and then we had a new poster with showed the official billing order~ Well, is that the order of importance of the characters? Because in what world does Joel Kinnaman is a better known actor than Viola Davis? Is it a leftover from back when Tom Hardy had the role? Poor Jai Courtney I guess, LOL.

Hayley Atwell talked about how Agent Carter is tackling racism in its second season. Specially with her relationship with newcomer Jason Wilkes (played by Reggie Austin):

I think she sees in Wilkes someone who, given his race and given the time, the fact that he has been able to create this life for himself as an exceptional scientist in an environment where he had to really fight to win his place there, shows to her a strength of character that she can relate to, that she saw in Steve Rogers, that she sees in Sousa, as well, and that’s what interests her. And I think it’s helped by the fact that he’s really good looking. [Laughs.]

On not so great (but frankly expected) news, we won’t get Sherlock Series 4 before 2017, because Benedict Cumberbatch is a big deal know, you dig? Here’s what PBS President Paula Kerger had to say:

We do have the next Sherlock announced, that is coming up about a year from now. As you know, Benedict has gotten to be somewhat popular since we began our work with him, and he very much wants to continue with Sherlock. As you know, they are produced almost like films and we’re hoping the next one will be about a year from now.

Ryan North had a nice and long interview with The Mary Sue, about his latest book Romeo and/or Juliet, a new Shakespearean choose-your-own-adventure book coming June 7th! And it has a Noelle Stevenson’s cover! Check it out here:

OK, after good news, some bad news: Star Wars: Episode VIII will be delayed from May 26th 2017 to December 15th, 2017, and now Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will move from July 7 to May 26, 2017. The reason? They had to write in some Stormpilot of course! I mean, they had to write more about the new trio, because they were dumbasses and didn’t realise people will love them.

Obviously the December date worked out very (very) well for them but I’ve also heard they are rewriting the script, I’ve heard from several sources the rewrites are positive, based on audience reaction to the new characters. People loved them. So strongly. And Lucasfilm was surprised at how well they were received, according to several sources.

Anyway, according to people who claim to have seen concept art and/or storyboards revealing the scenes in Star Wars: Episode VIII, that include Luke and Rey training with lightsabers, and a war scene where “stronger than ever” Kylo Ren is with a obscured new villain and about to fight Luke and Rey. Well, if true, that seems interesting!

Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple remains the connecting tissue between all the Netflix/Marvel series, and in fact will play an important part in Luke Cage‘s life. At least according to Mike Colter (a.k.a. Luke Cage) himself!

Because she plays a nurse that basically seems to be in the right place at the right time, and she’s very good at helping out superheroes who are in need, and I think you will see some of that in Luke Cage. Ultimately I think she’s going to be a very good companion for Luke. I think she’s someone that Luke needs in his life at this time.

In comicbook news, Steve Rogers will return as Captain America, because obviously. Marvel (or DC for that matter) ain’t going to change a central part of its status quo permanently! It was announced during Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years special on ABC. But Captain America: Steve Rogers won’t be the only Captain America comicbook. Current Cap Sam Wilson will remain in the role in Captain America: Sam Wilson. So yep, two Captain Americas!
