The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: What DC is cooking~

THURSDAY

YES! Here’s the preview of Thor #1! We might not know yet who this new female who will take the mantle (and Mjölnir) of Thor would be, but she does look awesome on her variant covers. Just check out those guns!

Well, damn, the Russo Brothers are so nerdy that they tried to make Captain America: The Winter Soldier Honest Trailer-Proof! Not that it worked, but hey, it’s the thought that counts!

We used to sit in the room and go, ‘this is not going to end up in an Honest Trailer. This logic isn’t sound enough yet.’ We literally tried to Honest Trailer proof the movie. Because what Honest Trailers really is, and I’ll say litmus test again, is ‘how sound is the logic in your film? How ridiculous are the buys that you’re asking the audience to make?’ So we would just comb through the script over and over again and go, ‘How do we shore up this logic? How do we shore up this logic?’ So it was a very helpful exercise for us.

Here’s a nice interview with the film makers of Big Hero 6, which is Disney’s own thing by now because it differs quite a lot from the Marvel comicbook~

2004 is the six issue mini-series that contains the characters that we took and inspired the movie we’re making. They [Marvel] were involved as far as early discussions with them when we asked about the Big Hero 6 property and they’ve been nothing but supportive and enthusiastic with us taking this thing and making it our own. They were really excited by the idea of not necessarily connecting this to the Marvel Universe, but having us create our own world where these characters would live and breathe.

Bleeding Cool has been “reliably informed” that DC Comics wants to bring Supergirl to the TV. And writer/producer Michael Green (SmallvilleHeroes, Gotham) is attached. Dude even has experience on Supergirl, since he worked with Mike Johnson on her New 52 reboot. And then E!Online said the series won’t be on CW like Arrow and Flash though. Which means CW sucks, dammit. And finally, Deadline said that Michael Green is totally not part of it, but Geoff Johns will though we don’t know what he will be doing yet. The series doesn’t have a name yet, it won’t be “Supergirl” but it will have “Super” or “Girl” on it. Or at least that’s the idea.

FRIDAY

Entertaining Weekly is pimping their Simpsons/Family Guy crossover (on September 28) special edition with collector covers and interviews with both creators: Matt Groening and Seth MacFarlane! They even told them to draw each other and they did in their own particular style. Great results all around. And that’s fine and dandy, but the coolest thing to me is the second crossover with The Simpsons we will have. The one with Futurama. “Simpsorama” will take place on November 9 and is taglined in the opening credits as “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes”. LOL. Here’s a picture of Bender and Homer~

Remember The Walking Dead spinoff they were trying to make? It’s now been given a pilot order! Production is scheduled for later this year and this what AMC president Charlie Collier had to say about it:

Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it’s the question I get asked the most. Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct.

Neil Gaiman’s stuff keep getting adapted to other media! First, Juliet Blake, who helped produce The Hundred-Foot Journey, acquired the film rights to Hansel & Gretel, Gaiman’s reimagining of the classic story and they are not witch hunters on that one. And now, BBC Radio 4 will turn Good Omens , the awesome collaboration between Gaiman and my also beloved Terry Pratchett, into a radio drama and I am giddy! OMG, the guy is charge is Dirk Maggs, the same who did the great job with the Neverwhere adaptation! And we will have the six-part presentation starting in early December and ending by Christmas time! Merry Xmas to me!

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Keanu Reeves (2) Salma Hayek (2), Beyoncé (4) and Michael Keaton (5).
