The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: What DC is cooking~

TUESDAY

We could have had Hawkeye in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And the scene also involved Captain America and it sounded awesome. Too bad they couldn’t work out a conflict with Jeremy Renner’s schedule apparently.

There was an awesome sequence where they confronted each other in a ravine on the outskirts of D.C. and Hawkeye was shooting a series of arrows closing in on Cap, Cap closing in on him. And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Cap’s ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D.

RDJ adds his voice to those who want a Black Widow movie, after Scarlett Johansson had a break because she’s a new mom of course. Then again, RDJ actually wants every single one of the Avengers to have their own franchise, including The Hulk and Hawkeye.

It would be kind of more appropriate for a character that already was like a Black Widow (to lead a movie). It just seems like whatever Scarlett does people want to go see it. […] The funny thing is honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise. I think Jeremy Renner is — when folks see the Avengers: Age of Ultron he’s just a rockstar, a bada–. And Ruffalo is pumped. He does great (work). I’d like to hear them talk even more seriously about a Hulk franchise, because that’s been one of the toughest ones to get right.

Talking about wishful thinking, there was this fancast of Benedict Cumberbatch as Martian Manhunter that was taken as a rumor. And now Benny Batch himself doesn’t deny he could be in Batman V Superman, according to some BBC reporter. Get that free publicity, Posh Alien Prince! Also, here’s fanart~

On actual Warner/DC news, Netflix has put the moves on Gotham surprisingly fast and is now the exclusive subscription video on demand home of the series in US and all the other countries where Netflix operates! Yep, this could well be the first time a a broadcast series has this kind of deal before it even premieres, so congrats!

WEDNESDAY

It’s been decided. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is going to be Black Adam! Dwayne himself gave us the news on twitter! We don’t have a confirmed date for the Shazam movie yet, but hey, with all untitled DC movies slotted up through 2020, we will probably getting it sooner rather than later. As for that, congrats on DC, even if I feel sad he didn’t get to be the hero, since they have more stable jobs. And besides, Dwayne has a lovely smile that he won’t be able to show while he’s scowling and eyebrow-acting as Black Adam. Oh well, at least he does look the part!

Al Pacino saw Guardians of the Galaxy because of his kids and loved it!

It was not something I would readily go see, but my kids got me to go, and one has to draw the line at where prejudice starts and where it ends — that was good stuff! I recognized the ingenious stuff they were doing; the invention, the attractiveness of the way they were performing it. It had Shakespearian feeling to it at times.

So, would he be part of MCU? “Anything is possible”. And he did Dick Tracy~

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 has released a full synopsis. It’s a long one and emcompasses the MCU background, the happenings of the first season, and where the main characters are, as well as introduce the new member of Agent Coulson’s core team: Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), “a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit”.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month in US, and Marvel is joining the cause with some nifty variant covers as part as an awareness campaign! Here are two of my favourite ones:
