The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Vampire Joy & Mutant Woe

THURSDAY

What? Evan Peters is going to be Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past?!? But Quicksilver is going to be in The Avengers too! This is such a douche move, Fox! With all the characters in that movie he will be there for just a scene I bet! In fact, HitFix thinks this mean war or rather a “legally-negotiated stand-off in which we’ll get two totally different versions of one character”.

Now, let’s talk about his sis. There were rumors about Saoirse Ronan playing Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2, and while nothing has been offered yet, she is game!

I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would. I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it.”

Jackie Chan wants to be Iron Man… yay? LOL.

I really want to play Iron Man but I don’t think the audiences want to see me as Iron Man. Anyway, nobody pays me big money to make this kind of movie. I love Iron Man and this kind of movie, but no one hires me. Fools!

Let’s talk some more about Avengers Assemble, which was obvioulsy made to cash on The Avengers. Inspired, they say. And what about the addition of Falcon (who will appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier)? This is what Joe Quesada has to say:

He’s the newbie of the group, he’s the youngest member. I think seeing the Avengers through the eyes of this particular character will really give our audience a unique perspective. It helps that we’ll be seeing him in the Cinematic Universe as well.

So I watched the first episode and while I feel some of the voice actor choices are not that good, it’s very dynamic and the art looks better in motion. But hey, here’s some concept art!

On the DC side of things, Henry Cavill wants Superman/Batman team-up for the big screen. We know, Cavill, we know.

I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict. because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.

FRIDAY

Tom Hiddleston got asked Big Questions by BAFTA Guru! Aw, he loves The Jungle Book and wants to share it with everybody, be it new people in his life or hypothetical future kids~

Also, Only Lovers Left Alive was shown to the press at Cannes, and while the reviews are not excellent they range from decent to very good, and they say it is a very enjoyable film, even funny… which is something I totally did not expect! The premiere will be tomorrow and I hope Hiddles can make it. For now, Sony has bought the North American rights.

Man of Steel producer, Deborah Snyder, knows where it’s at with a “feistier and stronger” Lois Lane. Also:

Her apartment is a little more realistic to her job, I think. With the Richard Donner films I was always like “Wow, that apartment – how could she afford that? It’s amazing!”

Here’s the trailer for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox trailer! Looks good, but “If I had just run faster” is such a corny line. Should have told that to Marvel about Quicksilver though.

So back to the Marvel speedster drama, and how Fox practically gave the finger to Marvel. Even Bryan Singer’s (already deleted) tweet has taking a dig about The Avengers. Lets’ be real here:

While Marvel are seemingly well within their rights to still introduce the duo in The Avengers 2 – referring to them as “Pietro” and “Wanda” instead of their superhero codenames – the fact that Fox has now decided to use Quicksilver appears to be a spiteful last minute addition to the film to preempt Marvel’s plans.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, Happy Geek Day to those who celebrate, and here’s some concept art of the USS Vengeance from Star Trek Into Darkness, goblin designs from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and unused Iron Man 3 posters (with Pepper Potts concept art included).

Wow, compositing for sex scenes? xD Is this a first? I mean, we’ve heard of doubles, merkins and prosthetics, but compositing? xD

@mirella, was THAT scene in Antichrist prosthetic? You know, that one scene. With the scissors. I dunno, there’s going to have to be a lot of motion tracking. xD

I have a feeling Shia is going to be very disappointed to not see his junk on the big giant screen doing the deed.

  2. Pinkie Prime!

Glad to hear In the Flesh will have a second series.
