The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Unleash the Marvel takeover!

FRIDAY

Chris Evans confesses his life would have sucked had he not accepted the part of Captain America. Also,Evans commented the reason of his first hesitation is because of The Fantastic Four.

Those Fantastic Four movies… how do you say this correctly? This is where interviews get tricky. If you’re going to get locked up in a long-term contract, you’ve got to make sure the movies you’re making are movies you’ll be proud of. With a lot of movies I’ve made, I’ve had something to question.

Despite his (justified) whinning that Hawkeye didn’t have the best part in The Avengers, Jeremy Renner seems happy to be a part of such a big franchise, specially now that his part is bigger in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, according to him and RDJ.

You start to step into franchise-land and superhero land. It’s kind of terrifying when you’re an actor. It’s a huge commitment. But I’m glad I did it. All the actors are so awesome, I love them. That’s the main reason I want to keep going back. We all go through the same trials together.

Also, more behind-the-scenes of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, where indeed Hawkeye will have more screentime, or at least he’s in many scenes with the twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Oh yeah, some extra raised the Ultron mask for all the world too see. Maybe it will get CGI’d at the end of the process but at least we now have a pretty good idea how it will look like.

Rumor has it that Marvel wants Dexter as Daredevil in the Marvel/Netflix series that will air soon. I hope. Michael C. Hall is a bit old for an original Daredevil story though. If the rumor turns out to be true, I expect the story will revolve around an established Daredevil.

Here’s some concept art of Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher, which is the less sucky of Marvel anime. In fact, it’s quite good! I just wish Black Widow was less whiny, or rather not whiny at all dammit.

Here are some more pictures of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, including pictures of Green Goblin and Rhino. I just love how Spidey’s physicality is more like the comicbook character.

Batman turns 75, and Warner Bros. Entertainment and DC Entertainment have revealed plans for a year-long celebration that started with a celebration logo, and will include commemorative issues and variant covers, a “Batman Day” on July 23, a “Cape/Cowl/Create” art exhibit at San Diego Comic-Con International in July, home entertainment, animation, TV (Gotham), and a movie (I guess this will be the Batman/Superman one), etc~

On not so great DC news, Sandman: Overture gets another delay. Issue 3 will be published on July instead of April. On the other hand, Gaiman also says that Issue 3 will be “the nearest Sandman has ever come to a spaghetti Western”.

OMG with that MTV Movie Awards Takeover! From April 7 to April 11, some of my favs (like Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, and Dwayne Johnson) will talk with ascendent nerd Josh Horowitz about their movies for this year and, besides some teasers, we will get our first look at Guardians of the Galaxy.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to William Shatner (22), Reese Witherspoon (22), Jim Parsons (24), Jessica Chastain (24), Lee Pace (25), Leonard Nimoy (26), Keira Knightley (26), Nathan Fillion (27), Quentin Tarantino (27) and Nick Frost (28).
