The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: #UniteTheSeven

THURSDAY

Missy a.k.a. The Master will totally come back to Doctor Who Series 9! She will be back in another two-part adventure (‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ and ‘The Witch’s Familiar’) written by Steven Moffat, Actress Michelle Gomez seems happy to be back:

Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my Lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see the Doctor again!

Another comicbook adaptation for TV will be made. We already knew Lucifer (from Sandman) was going to get made, but now Fox has ordered a pilot so things are nice and formal. Hope it gets decent ratings or Fox will give it the axe. So yeah, Lucifer is not a bit of a police procedural and not just Lucifer having fun in his exclusive piano bar called Lux. Bummer.

A bit more info on Neill Blomkamp’s Alien sequel. Well, Fox is totally still making Prometheus 2 and hopes to released in 2016, so the Blomkamp movie will be made for a possible 2017 premiere. Ridley Scott and his company Scott/Free will also produce the new Alien film because duh.

Now a couple of comicbook news. Here’s another cover for the Marvel “Last Days” Arc. This time for Ms Marvel and OMG I know it’s just the name of the event but I was so nervous! Thankfully, writer G. Willon Wilson calmed us down on Twitter:

I’m seeing some panic over the Last Days story announcement. No need to fear! It’s the end of the Marvel U, not of Kamala. :)

Also, we are getting an ongoing Invader Zim comic. Oh yeah! No creative team has been revealed yet, but creator Jhonen Vasquez and some of the guys from the TV series (Aaron Alexovich, Eric Trueheart and Rikki Simons) will be involved in some way or another.

I’m always confused when people say how much they miss Invader Zim because the show never stopped running in my head, and then I remember everyone else isn’t in my head. I try to imagine the world for all those people who don’t know what Zim’s been up to since the show went off the air and it makes me shudder. How can people live that way? Hopefully this comic helps make the world a better place.

FRIDAY

While many news this week came from social media, the arguably most important one came from Zack Snyder’s Twitter. And it was the first look of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Feast your eyes in all its desaturated glory!

He totally looks like a surfer Khal Drogo and that’s A-OK! Not bad for a guy who’s “barely even present” in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Rumor has it that it’s basically a cameo and he shows up “only in a survey of metahumans by Lex Luthor and then again at the very ending, when Batman recruits him for the Justice League”.

Now about that #unitetheseven hashtag, most of us assume it’s because of The Justice League, yet here is more info about someone who apparently knows his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice rumors:

It’s worth noting that script with which I’m familiar had Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. There was no seventh in the script, although it’s possible that the seventh member of the team – Green Lantern, one assumes – is introduced in Justice League

Joss Whedon talked about Avengers: Age of Ultron, and how it was totally Edgar Wright’s fault Hank Pym ain’t the creator of Ultron in the MCU “by virtue of what Edgar was doing”. OK, he didn’t it was his fautl but still! Besides they already have irresponsible science bros! Who needs Hank Pym for that!

Ultron needs to be the brainchild of the Avengers, and in the world of the Avengers and the MCU, Tony Stark is that guy. Banner has elements of that guy – we don’t really think of him as being as irresponsible as Tony Stark, but the mother[frick]er tested gamma radiation on himself, with really terrible, way-worse-than-Tony-Stark results. It didn’t make sense to introduce a third scientist, a third sciencetician, to do that.

There was a new teasing Daredevil image that showed a boxing ad about a fight between Matt Murdock’s dad and Carl Creel a.k.a. The Absorbing Man, a comicbook villain that has already appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Guess everything is connected in Marvel!

Rumor has it that Steven Spielberg totally wants to direct Chris Pratt as his new Indiana Jones, pending that the scrypt is good tho. Man, Chris is totally popular now!

OMG! A historian found a lost Sherlock Holmes story in his freaking attic! Yep, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a short story for a fundraiser to build a bridge. Dude was given a 48-page pamphlet containing this and other short story over 50 years ago by a friend, but forgot about it he decided to take a look at his attic some time ago. Also, for those of us who are itching to read it, here’s the full transcript of Sherlock Holmes: Discovering the Border Burghs and, by deduction, the Brig Bazaar. That’s quite a moutful, Conan Doyle!

And that it’s for the week. This week we had a lot of people to say Happy Birthday to! So, without further ado, let’s end this week wishing Happy Birthday to Simon Pegg (14), LeVar Burton (16), Christopher Eccleston (16), Elizabeth Olsen (16), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (17) and Benicio Del Toro (19).
