The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Too late to change the name!

THURSDAY

Today was Ant-Man day. After the trailer debut, the most important news was Entertainment Weekly Ant-Man set visit where there were some interviews with director Payton Reed about the nature of Scott/Lang’s heroism:

We wanted Scott Lang to have made mistakes that cost him dearly. But we wanted the audience to be rooting for him despite that. Paul Rudd can do almost anything and you’re still charmed by him.

Also, he wants to make it clear that’s Ant-Man is totally different from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids~ Also, we’ll see fire ants, winged carpenter ants, and bullet ants. But all ants are CGI even if thereal thing was used for reference!

Kevin Feige talked about Wright’s departure from the movie, but assured us that despite everything, they did parted on good terms~

It is true that there were disagreements about the direction the script should take. Everything was aboveboard. Everything was done with everybody else’s knowledge. There was a sense of ‘We’re going in this direction, you’re staying in this direction—maybe it’s best that we end as friends.’

Protagonist Paul Rudd talked about how much the script changed since the departure of Wright and Cornish, but he totally credits them for the “bones” of the story.

The idea, the trajectory, the goal, and the blueprint of it all, is really Edgar and Joe. It’s their story. We changed some scenes, we added new sequences, we changed some characters, we added new characters. If you took the two scripts and held them up together they’d be very different—but the idea is all theirs.

FRIDAY

Continuing with the Ant-Man theme, hey new pictures!

Also, that trailer? Got over 29 million views since its debut on Tuesday. Marvel says that it’s a higher number than the Guardians of the Galaxy‘s trailer premiere. May it also be as succesful as Guardians of the Galaxy!

And to finish our Ant-Man news, we had Corey Stolls talking about his character, the antagonist Darren Cross/Yellowjacket, who was a “child prodigy that Michael Douglas’ character Hank Pym discovered at an early age”, and apparently is in cahoots with Pym’s daughter Hope, played by Evangeline Lilly, to take over the company. Also, he’s a tad crazy:

I’ve discovered my own version of [Pym Particles] and I’m using it for militaristic purposes.  I’ve even started to use the technology myself, which as a sort of psychotic effect on people if they use it too much. I can’t get into the details of all the goodies of the Yellowjacket suit but it’s several generations advanced from what Ant-Man has. And then I put it on—and then I am Yellowjacket!

On not Ant-Man news, Minority Report is getting a TV sequel by Fox and, not gonna lie, I liked the synopsis:

The sci-fi drama, which was described as one of the hottest scripts heading into pilot season, will pick up 10 years after John Anderton ended Precrime in Washington D.C., and will follow one of the three Precogs, presumably one of the twins, who is struggling to lead a “normal” human life as he remains haunted by visions of the future. He’ll end up crossing paths with a female detective haunted by her past and who might just be the one person that can help him find a purpose to his gift.

Finally, here are the BAFTA nominations, were the leading contenders are The Grand Budapest Hotel with 11 nominations, Birdman and The Theory of Everything with 10 each, and The Imitation Game with 9 nominations.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Graham McTavish (4), Diane Keaton (5), Rinko Kikuchi (6), Norman Reedus (6), Nicolas Cage (7), Jeremy Renner (7), David Bowie (8) and Severus Snape (9).
