The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Tony Stark makes you feel~

MONDAY

Best and worst moment of the Oscar, and I agree with them. Except for the tie, I was surprised but it didn’t bother me that much. Unlike the bunch of drama queens at the Awards. LOL, I just loved how everybody gasped.

Talking about that, here’s an article about Oscar ties. There has been 6 ties. Sorta. The only exact tie in Oscar history was in 1968, when Barbra Streisand (Funny Girl) and Katharine Hepburn (The Lion in Winter) won for best actress. For a tie to be declared, there have to be three or fewer votes between the winning nominees.

We have lots of Iron Man 3 stuff. First, we have Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts to continue the colection of character posters we have been showing you.

Then Empire Magazine delivers the motherload on Iron Man 3, starting with a cover and new stills. But there were also interviews! Like the one with RDJ, where he talks about the possibility of not being Tony Stark anymore for other movies beyond The Avengers 2. Ok, that scared me a little. I know he cannot play Iron Man forever, but I’d rather they stop making Iron Man movies than recast. And maybe 10 years from now a reboot if the people want it/Hollywood doesn’t have better ideas?

But RDJ wasn’t the only one with things to say, and Gwyneth Paltrow, Sir Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle and Shane Black comment on the movie.

Robert’s portrayal of Tony is ultimately the American cowboy who defies authority, thinks for himself and is fiercely individualistic. That’s an America we like to believe in, which is why The Mandarin, who hates America, is a good match for Tony in this movie.

And finally, we get a very spoilery description of a scene. Also they confirm Guy Pearce’s role in the movie.

Also, on Empire Magazine, James McAvoy doesn’t think both Xaviers will meet on X-Men: Days of Future Past. Also, while he is grateful to do another X-Men movie, he isn’t in a hurry to raise his profile and will rather do smaller films:

Having an X-Men in your back pocket, which hopefully will go for three movies, it makes you go, ‘Right, it doesn’t matter if I make 14 films that nobody sees…because in two years’ time I’ll make another X-Men‘. Meanwhile, Fox are thinking, ‘Why isn’t this [frick]er out there building his profile so he can make us more money on the second X-Men?’ But that’s their fault for hiring me!

We also have a couple The Amazing Spider-Man 2 news: a first official look at the new costume and Dane DeHaan talking about his work out for the role of Harry Osborne. And we have a first look at Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane. I’m not impressed. But I guess with make-up and post-production… I truly hope so, because she also looks quite young to be hanging out with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker.

Joss Whedon talks about why it’s so hard to make a good Hulk movie:

[…] The problem is it’s a very popular character, but it’s not a superhero. Half of it’s a superhero, half of it’s a werewolf. And you can’t structure it like a superhero movie, you can’t light it like a superhero movie. How do you develop that? It would be extremely difficult. The one thing you would have in your favour would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don’t know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole, but by himself, it’s tough. I don’t envy the guys who went before.

Ok, BBC has a new series for March 17th. A new zombie series called In The Flesh. But it’s a bit different… check the trailer:

Yeah, I would watch this series. My love for zombies is not dead yet.

Parade’s End premieres in US via HBO, and the director Susanna White is there promoting it. Also has time to praise Benedict Cumberbatch… and not only for his acting skills. This answers why the character is not the “fat ox”described in the books:

I wanted women to really fall in love with him, so it was important to find somebody who would be both attractive and who also could play the emotional layers and have the intelligence.

WHAT THE HELL! They killed off Damien Wayne?! Again?! The Hell, DC! I liked that kid! He was one of my fav comic kids! Dammit Grant Morrison! But he has ressurected before so…

You can never say never in a comic book… Batman will ultimately always have a partner.

So who’s gonna be the new Robin for now? Tim Drake and Jason Todd will be there for a while, chaging the title of the series from Batman and Robin to Batman And Red Robin and then Batman And Red Hood.

And talking about dead people in comics, here’s a morbid list of deaths that actually mattered. Don’t know about you, but everything but number 1 and 2 can (and probably will) be totally retconned.

Back to Marvel comics, Hercules and Wolverine (from an alternate universe) share a kiss in X-Treme X-men #10. They cannot be together though, and not because of gay prejudice. Zeus is just a hypocritical bastard and only he can have sex with mortals.

  1. It looks like In the Flesh is taking a different approach to the “zombie returning to society” genre than Les revenants, which is getting a UK TV remake by the creator of State of Play and Shameless. Interesting how we’re seeing more zombies becoming human/having thoughts, like in Warm bodies.

The Audrey Hepburn is uncanny. I’m unsure of this whole “using the image of the dead” thing, though. Maybe for a movie cameo, but advertising??? I liked Gene Kelly dancing, and the j’adore Dior cameos made, at least, a bit of sense having fashion icons. But chocolate? Let Hugh decide whether he wants to sell Iced Tea [1], but having your heirs decide you should sell chocolate is… weird. LOL All you need to do to make a living, is be the direct heir to someone who was famous to make a few million bucks? Can Drew Barrymore resurrect the Barrymores? Will Whitney Houston’s kid resurrect her in the coming years? Will Michael Jackson’s kids make a living solely based on the image of their father?

Now more than ever I want famous parents hahaha

Also, about the Oscar tie- I think it’s unfair that 3 votes aren’t counted to break the tie, after all, it isn’t like the Academy has over a million voting members to not have those 3 votes matter.
