The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Time is running out!

WEDNESDAY

So, do you know how in Avengers: Age of Ultron we have Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, but there cannot be any mentions of they being mutants and Magneto’s children because movie rights shenanigans with Fox? Well, guess who are not longer related to Magneto (or even mutants apparently) in comic books! You guessed! Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver! According to Avengers And X-Men: Axis #7, Magneto is not their biological father and they are now inhumans (which will tie it nicely with the future Inhumans movie Disney/Marvel will eventually make).

On today news, Troll King Steven Moffat said dumb things! Apparently women just don’t want to write/direct for Doctor Who! Dude, maybe those wome don’t want to write/direct for you? As you said, in conventions there are a lot of fangirls!

Female directors and writers have a tendency to turn us down. There are fewer female directors and female writers — it’s a statistical fact — it’s shameful but it’s true. Most of the people who are desperate to do ‘Doctor Who’ are men… [Tregenna] turned us down in the past, but I talked her into it with an idea she really liked… The reason we want women is because some of the best people for the job are women… There’s very much a culture of thinking about Doctor Who as a boys’ show, but I’m always going to conventions and looking at fans and thinking there’s practically more girls than boys.

Just check out the awesome girls that make Doctor Puppet (now with their own Xmas Special!)

Yep, not only Doctor Puppet was created by a woman, this episode “The Planet that Came to Christmas!” was written by five women!

THURSDAY

Continuing with Doctor Who news, despite having Inception and Alien themes, the episode “Last Christmas” makes total sense because The Doctor and Santa belong together!

It’s one of those ideas that, when you have it, you think ‘Why didn’t it happen before now? Why haven’t we seen them in a buddy movie before now?’ They belong together, especially in the hearts of the younger part of our audience, Doctor Who and Santa Claus and Robin Hood all live in the same place.

Also, apparently Moffat cast Nick Frost also because of his name “is a name Santa would choose as a nom de plume. It’s much better than Kris Kringle.”

Besides, the episode totally meant Jenna Coleman will stay in Doctor Who for another season at least. Here’s what she had to say:

I get a whole other [season] of stories with the Doctor and I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved. There is so much more to do. I think they’ve finally just reached a point where they really understand each other. The arrival of the 12th Doctor has just kind of dropped this whole bombshell and allowed the dynamic to totally change, so I think just when Clara was feeling more comfortable in the relationship, it has suddenly thrown something new up.
