The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: This is a rebellion, isn’t it?

THURSDAY

It was the day of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer! All the fans were reacting and screaming all over the place, and we quickly got breakdowns and easter eggs/references videos and articles, as well as thinkpieces about why it could be better than Star Wars: The Force Awakens (actual war, no lightsabers, no Skywalkers, The Empire, expanded universe!). And then there were gender issues, because the film’s lead is female, Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso. Yep. Apparently those fanboys don’t care than there were other male characters in the trailer… I guess they don’t count if they aren’t white. They still have Ben Mendelsohn tho! So we got articles mocking them, confronting them and the term Mary Sue, and finally how the film already passed the Bechdel Test what with Jyn Erso talking to Mon Mothma about her past and the mission.

ABC’s Freeform has greenlighted Cloak and Dagger, based on Marvel Comics’ romance superhero series. Freeform tho? Oh well, they are a very attractive couple, but I do hope Dagger’s costume ain’t a fashion crime as usual. Poor gal and her boob windows. Just make it like in Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, guys!

Here are new Warcraft posters! I’ll just show you the full-blooded orcs (Blackhand, Orgrim, Durotan and Gul’Dan), because I like them more… #ForTheHorde. But there are also posters with humans and a half-orc woman, if that’s how you role.

FRIDAY

It was a sad Friday, when the news of Kouji Wada’s passing due to cancer came to me. He was best known for his work on Digimon‘s songs, such as “Butter-Fly” for Digimon Adventure and “The Biggest Dreamer” for Digimon Tamers, my personal favourites. His latest work was on the theme songs for Digimon Adventure tri., the six-part sequel film series of Digimon Adventure.

It seems that Marvel Studios characters will join Spider-Man standalone movie! Or so Big Boss Kevin Feige has assured us with a “He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth”. So, Iron Man or Captain America? I mean, one (or the two) must appear, besides whatever other character they want, right? After whatever happens at Captain America: Civil War, it would make the most sense.

The heroes and villains of X-Men: Apocalypse appear in new character posters! Everybody looks more or less good, expect Oscar Isaac and his beautiful face hidden under tons of blue make-up. I am not bitter at all. Compare that to how flawless Alexandra Shipp as Storm looks:

Finishing with not so great Box Office News, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is expected to be less profitable than Man of Steel, even if it has recently passed that one’s worldwide box office haul. That’s because Man of Steel was cheaper to make, yo! And to be as successful as Marvel’s movies, which usually generate a profit of 44% – Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice would need to gross $1.15 billion, and it’s unlikely it will pass the $1 billion mark worldwide.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Michael Fassbender, Cobie Smulders, Hugo Weaving, Robert Downey Jr., Hayley Atwell and Paul Rudd.
