The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: There and back again

THURSDAY

And the day starts with even more behind the scenes pictures  from The Avengers. Will this movie ever let me go? I hope not!

Samuel L. Jackson goes all political and tells America to wake the fuck up. And when Nick Fury tells you to do something, you do it!

So, Hugh Jackman may have looked a bit photoshopped on The Wolverine promo picture… But never let it be said that man ain’t looking fine! Here he is with his family at Bondi Beach.

Lucy Liu talked about Elementary, which premiered that day [1]:

It is shocking — not for me because I like things to be turned on their head — but for some people, it’s sort of like making 007 a woman, you know what I mean? […] It just takes time for people to understand that the world isn’t going to blow up if Watson is a woman.

Considering Watson has been a mouse, a dog, a tomato, a kid and a robot, I am sure Watson can be a woman too.

After the episode premiered (which was mostly like the pilot), we got a promo for next episode.

FRIDAY

So, Karen Gillan appeared on Conan, where she was her giggly self. They talked little about Doctor Who, and mostly about her Scottishness (is that a word?). It was full of Ginger cuteness all around [1].

Ok, so we geeks were worried about Stan Lee’s health, because cancelling upcoming appearances due to “a very serious circumstance”. Thankfully, he released a statement:

In an effort to be more like my fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, I have had an electronic pace-maker placed near my heart to insure that I’ll be able to lead thee for another 90 years.

So, Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb will come back for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, to the surprise of nobody. But hey, now it’s official!

We have a Rock the Vote PSA with Stan Smith from American Dad and Brian Griffin from Family Guy:

Roger is just a voice-over and still gets to steal the show. LOL.

Talking about cartoons, tomorrow premieres the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nickelodeon and here we have some clips and the first (favorable) review.

Finally, there a huge banner for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey featuring Bilbo, Gandalf and the thirteen dwarves, all properly named.

Talking about dwarves, Peter Jackson also shared a poster with just them on his fanpage.

And that’s it for the week. Before I prepare to possibly cry over the mid-season finale of Doctor Who, let me show you some Sherlock stuff I’ve just realised existed and I now want. We have a Sherlock calendar, a Sherlock Cluedo and a tie-in hardcover book. Christmas present anyone?
