The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: There and back again

MONDAY

Well, it may have been bad news for the Sherlock people at the Emmys, but hey, rumor has it that Benny Cumberbatch may play a Bond villain [1]. It is too soon to know for sure though. But I’ll go “YAY” quietly anyway.

Posh Alien Prince also got a short interview, putting an end to “problems” with Jonny Lee Miller, which reminds me of this interview at the BAFTA tea party before the Emmys. Benny, also talked some about Star Trek into Darkness, where he praises J.J. Abrams:

He’s a wonderful human being to be around, J.J. [Abrams] — on every level, as a dad, as a friend, as a director, as a musician … He’s a polymath, he’s a really talented human being. And he has time for everyone and it’s all done with a really genuine interest in the story.

Then, the day will bring me two pictures that surely captured my attention:

Yup, those are Hugh Jackman looking huge and ripped in the first official photo for The Wolverine; and the new Les Misérables poster that totally looks like the 1862 drawing for the book. Yeah, the movies have nothing in common, except containing Hugh Jackman, but I loved both pictures, this is my column and I do what I want!

Anyway, Hollywood keeps remaking stuff, this time The Mummy. Not The Mummy from 1999 which was awesome (not so much the sequels), but the original 1932 one. It could be awesome too, but I’m not sure of this team… Lean Wiseman of Total Recall and Underworld fame would be directing, and Jon Spaihts (co-writer of Prometheus) is writing the script.

In gaming news, the LEGO Lord of the Rings featurette is full of epic cuteness, and I am so pumped for that game!

Talking about epic stuff, here’s Looper‘s animated trailer:

In Marvel news, there are new additions to the cast of Thor: The Dark World. Clive Russell will be Tyr, and Richard Brake will be captain of the Eihenjar.

Tom Hiddleston, lovely bastard that he is, gets praised by Marvel producer, Kevin Feige:

Tom is an amazing looking specimen but also because of that darkness, I think they find a sexiness with him as a badboy.

And by God of the Nerds, Joss Whedon:

He’s very different than a lot of the other guys. A lot of the actors would come at it from, ‘Let’s do some scene work and shape the script,’ which I’m very comfortable with. Tom, I think possibly with all the Shakespearean training, he takes what he has, and says, ‘Well, how do I make this work,’ and is so gracious about it, and so inventive.

BTW, that God of the Nerds was a referece to this thing of “honest” fun:

Avengers need no damn earpieces! They communicate through the power of bromance! Also, apparently I’m not dead inside… or a girl.
