The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: That, my lad, was a dragon

THURSDAY

Happy Birthday, Chris Evans, Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgård!

Neil Gaiman loves his cast from radio show Neverwhere so much that he would cast them again for a possible movie.

Would I cast James McAvoy as Richard Mayhew in Neverwhere the film? Absolutely. Would I cast Benedict Cumberbatch as the Angel Islington? Oh, just watch me! From that point of view I thought it was really perfect casting.

We get a new poster for Coriolanus featuring Tom Hiddleston! The man himself tweeted about it twice because he’s a dork. is lovely and I can’t. Coriolanus will also get broadcasted too from 30 January 2014!

Another one that will get the the live cinema screening treatment is Frankenstein (with Sherlocks Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller), which will come back on  31 October 2013.

FRIDAY

There will be some kiss between Captain America and Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I must believe those are diversionary tactics. Also, I know this is a stunt double but it looks great from behind, alright?

It has apparently been confirmed that John C. Reilly will be playing Rhomann Dey, leader of the Nova Corps, on Guardians of the Galaxy.

Joss Whedon talks some more about his proyects and apparently that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot was filmed in Paris. And as we suspected, no Loki in The Avengers 2, because that will be repititive. We’ll still get Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch though!

Sometimes [Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch] were ‘EVIL’ but sometimes they were good. They’re very textured, they’re very different from everybody else in the mix. They’re not their to make things easier on The Avengers but what we do with the group once we’ve got them is ‘squeeze.’ The fun I’m having doing that is probably unseemly.

The Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been given a rating of PG-13, which is the same as the theatrical release except for one small diference in the description:

Rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, frightening images and fleeting nudity.

Fleeting nudity you say? I am even suddenly more interested!

Gary Oldman wants to direct again, and wants Benedict Cumberbatch and Ralph Fiennes on the movie. It’s called a biopic of  Eadweard Muybridge called Flying Horse and Gary wrote the script himself. I am already interested.

Man of Steel 2 will give us Justice League, says David Goyer. And now it’s his turn to never shut up! First he talks about scenes that were cut from the movie (and even the script!), on the movie; then he talks about other comicbook movie projects he has worked on like The Flash and Y: The Last Man; and he talks about how The Daily Planet fellas are going to deal with Clark Kent (since at least the boss and Lois know he’s Superman):

Clearly Perry White and Steve Lombard see Lois kissing Superman at the end of the film. Perry’s not an idiot. Moving forward, he’s probably going to say to Lois “What’s up with that?” We’re definitely going to have to go through some story gymnastics.

Since we started with infographics, let’s finish with one! Here are some Superman milestones, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, OMG we might have a Star Wars theme park at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida! Also, while not directly related, this video is very relevant.

  1. Rory Kinnear’s a good actor but I can only somewhat see him as the Doctor. Then again, the casting’s always better as a surprise.

I’d like to see Tom Hiddleston’s reaction to the Red Wedding.

aww man all I wish is that Will Graham ends up happy at least one point because oh my gosh everything he’s going through. Hannibal is Worst Friend Ever, besides being a manipulative homicidal cannibal, of corse.

@Diandra Rodriguez, did you see this list for Japanese/Korean actors that could play the Doctor? xD

      • mirella says:

@amy, LOL, that’s totally wishful thinking. The Doctor would only be British. Though I hope for a British man or woman of color for The Doctor~

        • amy says:

@mirella, that totally is, but if accents aren’t a barrier- maybe Joe Odagiri could pull it off. You should totally try to check out Atami no Sousakan.

      • @amy, there are some great choices on that list. although I do kind of think that the Doctor is a Brit alien (haha). Then again, if other Time Lords show up, it’s all open. anyone but us rebellious Americans, heheh.
