The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Thanks for all the feels~

FRIDAY

Today it’s the 49th anniversary of Doctor Who!

A UK production company has the rights to produce a live-action movie of Grave of the Fireflies. But why? Japan already has a live-action movie about it! The whole movie is about a very Japanese experience! They better not white-wash this, dammit!

Total Film is all about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, with Martin Freeman as Bilbo on its cover and also being as cool as a cucumber and feeling no pressure for the movie.

Talking about The Hobbit, we also got the 9th production videoblog, courtesy of Peter Jackson~

Yay! Severed heads from Prometheus in a VFX reel because I am morbid like that~

BTW, found this awesome remix video of over 100 science fiction movies. I recognize about 90% of them. Clearly I watch too much sci-fi~

And since we got used to them, more Thor: The Dark World pictures, this time with Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double, and Christopher Eccleston looking badass!

Poor Adrianne Palicki didn’t get to be Wonder Woman (she looked more of a Wonder Girl in my opinion), but she still wants to play superhero. Her enthusiasm is kinda cute, and her options are not bad:

I would love to play Wonder Woman on the big screen. And if not, Supergirl. I know it’s not the coolest character, but I fell in love with her. My brother is a comic-book writer, and I was always in love with comics. My brother would always be reading all these comics with these dudes, and I was this little blonde, mousy-looking child, and I looked at this beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed chick, and I was like, “I want to be her!” She was one of the very few that I found. Or Rogue. I’d really like to play Rogue.

Apparently, Hugh Jackman got the part of Wolverine because Russell Crowe turned it down and then pointed at him. Nice!

Also, both these fellas should feel hella proud of Les Misérables, which got great first reactions at its first time screening in New York. It even got an original song, they are certainly pushing for the Oscars. Damn, I really want to watch the movie now!

Finally, a piece of news that I haven’t seen anywhere in “serious” media. Just things on Tumblr that led me to Twitter. BBC Radio 4 is doing a 6-part radio dramatisation of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. The cast is made of awesome and includes James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sir Christopher Lee.  And we got some pictures for the read-through where we can see Benedict and Christopher.

And that’s it for the week! But before I go, here we have a lovely image before the traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade:

Spider-Man is a tad too friendly neighbor to Uncle Sam~
