The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Take a look, it’s in a book!

WEDNESDAY

Here be the nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Awards! And one interesting thing is that both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are nominated for the same category of best actor in a movie or mini-series award, Benny Batch for Sherlock and Martin for Fargo. Martin is also nominated for supporting actor for Sherlock, and his partner Amanda Abbington for supporting actress also in Sherlock. Here we have a sneak peek of Guillermo del Toro produced, Jorge R. Gutierrez directed animated film, Book of Life. It’s a story inspired in the Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos. As such it was quite foreign for many people and the movie took like 14 years to get made, until Gutierrez finally pitched the story to del Toro. And I am glad of it because Book of Life looks lovely.

I have been pitching the story and people have been saying, ‘This is cool, but you’re never going to get it made’. To other cultures it might seem dark, but the Day of the Dead is actually a very positive thing. It’s about joyfully remembering the people no longer with us.

And because Guillermo del Toro doesn’t plan to rest for the next few years, here’s the trailer of The Strain. Looks good, will watch~

The Ant-Man drama won’t be over for a while, and here’s “an insider” POV that says that even the film’s key crew departed when it became clear production would not begin on July 28 as scheduled. Damn, even if they get a new director in the next few days, would this still be able to finish in time for the July 17, 2015, release date? All this rumors are very worrisome and make me sad.

Talking about rumors, remember those about the plot of Jurassic World? Well, director Colin Trevorrow talked about them and they are mostly true. Except not as exaggerated as they were put. Also, “There’s no such thing as good or bad dinosaurs.” They just are~

What if, despite previous disasters, they built a new biological preserve where you could see dinosaurs walk the earth…and what if people were already kind of over it? We imagined a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves. “We’ve seen CG dinosaurs. What else you got?” Next year, you’ll see our answer.

What? Who could get “kind of over it” about dinosaurs! People are still not over Disney World/Land and those places are way older! You are telling me people would get bored about freaking real dinosaurs that you could watch and even touch! It would be like the highlight of many childhoods! That said, I don’t mind the premise of this story~

London Collections: Men is going to schedule the One For The Boys Fashion Ball, which is fundraiser for the charity One For The Boys (that raises awareness about male-specific cancers). And that’s all fine and dandy but the highlight is that Samuel L. Jackson will be the host! Not only that but he will also hit the catwalk with some of his celebrity friends like my dear Disney Prince Tom Hiddleston, as well as Luke Evans and Simon Pegg (LOL!) Welp, hope the videos are readily available!

Reading Rainbow is back and it’s thanks to the internet! Well, not back already but it will soon be! The same day LeVar Burton launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Reading Rainbow back in the form of video field trips and interactive kids books, it reached its goal of $1 million. Yep, the same day! Just 11 hours in fact! As I am writing this they have increased their goal to $5 million and considering they are already in $3 and they still have a month to go! Congrats, internet! You’ve make LeVar Burton cry with happiness and pride!
