The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Spoilers from far, far away

WEDNESDAY

Oh yes! Guardians of the Galaxy‘s soundtrack is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart! It is the second movie soundtrack to top the charts this year, after Frozen. What makes it more unique is that it’s the first time a soundtrack with no original songs is on the top.

Let’s start with a couple of cool set pictures from twitter! First, Mark Hamill showing off  a good old-fashioned “Jedi Beard” and the “VII” logo! And we also have Jyoti Amge, the World’s Smallest Living Woman, with Jessica Lange… why? Because Amge is part of the cast of American Horror Story: Freakshow!

On more Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoilers, that Lex Luthor has Zod’s body and some kryptonite seems to lead to some genetic engineering villainy. Specifically, the Doomsday kind. Well, damn!

THURSDAY

YAY! Preparing us for Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard showed both the opening cinematic of it, as well as Part One of Lords of War, a new five-part series that introduces us to the major players in the campaign on Draenor. We are talking about World of Warcraft BTW~

Man, I always said those Warcraft (and World of Warcraft) cinematics should be just movies or something! And i will definitely follow Lords of War!

Latino Review says that early version of Ant-Man‘s revised script had a meeting between Hank Pym and with Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Arnim Zola and a young Alexander Pierce at S.H.I.E.L.D. Well, if that scene survived, it’s a cool way to link this movie to the others. And S.H.I.E.L.D. would have wanted to recruit the original Ant-Man!

On curious news, Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comicbook, has commented on the theory that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) could be gay in the letter column to The Walking Dead #130.

All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing…we’ll tackle it in the show.

He also said that AMC would totally let that happen if it comes to it. I guess we’ll see if this is just not another case of gay-bait and word-of-god combined~

FRIDAY

Yay! Outlander was renewed for a second season! Considering we have just seen one episode, that’s great news! Sure, it could be a bit shorter with Starz “only publicly committing to “at least” 13 episodes for the next round”, unlike the 16 ones of the current season. That’s fine for me. I don’t really need long seasons.

Well, damn, apparently if China’s wealthiest man, Wang Jianlin, couldn’t add Warner (and DC) to his empire, Disney could be a potential buyer. I mean, Google and Apple are also mentioned, but imagine if Disney were to buy Warner… OMG! And we could have a DC/Marvel mash-up in movies! While the possibility is tenous, just the implication makes my fangirl mind explode.

And now here’s the truckload of Star Wars rumors! First, the bad guy!

He wears a black robe. His eyes are deep red. And half of his face is metal. He’s a cyborg. That was his hand in the picture JJ Abrams shared with the note about A Force For Change.

This main baddie, A.K.A. Sith Inquisitor, also loves handling Darth Vader’s helmet apparently. Here’s another description:

He’s tall and thin and terrifyingly creepy, with glowing red eyes to match his red lightsaber. He’s got some robotic upgrades, like Vader – but no mask. The cybernetic bits weave in and out of him. He’s got a human upper lip, a steel jaw.

Oh and Han and Chewie don’t have the Millennium Falcon anymore. Oscar Isaac’s character does. So what they have to move around in space? A Super Star Destroyer! And Luke has been taken captive! For years! He gets rescued tho! And we have Flashbacks! With Darth Vader!

And we also have pictures of the Stormtroopers of Star Wars Episode VII. They are nicknamed “Jungle Trooper” because appearing in a sequence which takes place at the tree house set and around various Puzzlewood exteriors.

And if that is not enough to make you happy… here’s Rian Johnson, who will direct Star Wars Episode VIII (and maybe Star Wars Episode IX) talking about all the cool practical effects they will keep having! Yay! Also, he plays a lot of Angry Birds Star Wars and that’s makes me happy.

And that it’s for the week. Before I leave, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Antonio Banderas (10), Chris Hemsworth (11), Sebastian Stan (13), Mila Kunis (14), Ben Affleck (15) and Jennifer Lawrence (15).
