The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Spilling some Marvel beans

THURSDAY

Yay, the Star Trek Into Darkness London premiere, which is the only premiere I care about because London! Also Benedict was there and the girls looked better than ever. Here are lots of pictures from different places. And this is my favourite from the photocall:

stid-london-photocall

Yes, not even Benedict’s manly cleavage will distract me from the beautiful background that is The London Bridge~

Elementary and Person of Interest will get online spinoffs! Elementary‘s is called Baker Street Irregulars, and it would be live-action about the gang of street youths that Holmes used as aid in some of his cases. Person of Interest‘s will be animated with a Anime-influenced animation style. Both will launch CBS.com in the fall. Sounds cool! I’ll them both a chance.

LOL Janie Got a Gun is cursed. Now Bradley Cooper is out, and they are looking for a replacement villain. The wish list includes Tobey Maguire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hiddleston. Does nobody want to work with Natalie Portman?

Talking about cursed productions, now Alexander Skarsgård says he ain’t play Eric Draven in The Crow… is he playing coy? Will this movie ever see the light? Do I want to?

Kevin Feige talks a lot with Entertainment Weekly about Phase Two of MCU. So basically everything that happens after Iron Man 3:  Thor: The Dark WorldCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the GalaxyThe Avengers 2, Ant-Man.

Also Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is not technically MCU but it happens in the same universe, and maybe we will see some unused heroes there!

If that works the way everyone expects it to work I think that would open up another avenue, another outlet for some of those characters. Maybe they guest star, I don’t know. I think they’re avoiding the cameo of the week on that show, which is very smart.

Talking about guest starts, Cobie Smulders will probably be there, and RDJ got asked if he will show up.

You know what? There’s no telling. I am open to everything.

He didn’t say yes, but also didn’t say no~

FRIDAY

Tom Hiddleston writes about the Live Below The Line challenge for Harper’s Bazaar. Damn, that man’s command of the English language makes me slightly envious.

Some say that hunger strengthens the will, keeps you sharp. Steve Jobs once said: “stay hungry”. But that great innovator was speaking metaphorically in the language of creative ambition. In his field, he’s absolutely right. Real hunger, however, kills the spirit.

Ben Stiller could end up directing RDJ in Pinocchio as a director now that Tim Burton is no longer attached to the project. Oh well, it’s not as if I mind Ben Stiller as a director. I liked Tropic Thunder and Zoolander~ BTW, RDJ would be playing Geppetto.

And Kevin Feige keeps talking! Here’s more about MCU, specially about Dr. Strange!

As we look past 2015, past Avengers 2 and Ant-Man, I think Dr. Strange should be one of the next movies in the years following that.

Yes please! He also talks about why he wants to make Ant-Man happen. Short answer? Because Edgar Wright is awesome and he can make Ant-Man awesome. Ok, I’m game with that.

Yay! Benedict Cumberbatch on The Graham Norton Show with Chris Pine, Kim Catrall and Bonnie Tyler. He was cute with fans, was sinister, imitated Graham Norton… and he and Chris Pine told us about the time Benny Batch got pranked and wore “neutron cream” to protect himself for the lasers on Star Wars Into Darkness~

We told him he had to apply the cream in dots all over his face and there he was doing this really intense scene with sunscreen spots all over him.

Oh, this public school boys, so gullible!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, check out these comic book characters in classic music videos! And May the 4th be with you!

  1. I’ve only seen two sources with this info, but David Tennant tested to play Hannibal and, if it gets a second season he’d play a killer:

@Diandra Rodriguez, at this point I just want Habbibal to get a second season. The ratings are not that good, but everyone who has watched the show loves it~

      • @Mirella, I’ve been checking up on the ratings news and it’s a very heavily time-shifted show, which might benefit it because it’s easier to keep track of actual views through DVR and OnDemand than with the current Nielsen live-airing system. It airs at the same time as Elementary in most places , though (except my area! haha! I get Elementary an hour early! so it’s a nifty crime night).
If my computer wasn’t buggy and slow, I’d keep it playing on Hulu in the background. but at least my mom catches up on it via OnDemand.
also, it’s cheaper than other shows and only thirteen episodes per season, so those factors might work in its favor.

@Diandra Rodriguez, I really hope so! It’s become my favourite new show… that and Vikings, but that’s because I am a history nerd.

@Mirella, the ratings in Hannibal wouldn’t surprise – it is, after all, Fuller we’re talking here. He doesn’t really get the best of luck with his shows. I’m happy to see Mikkelsen and Caroline Dhavernas x) The show stresses me out, though… even if I liked all the atmosphere given to it. It’s probably the most atmospheric show Fuller’s done.

With the Utah Hannibal pull out, it might have created some curiosity… or it might shut the few nails left in the coffin.

  2. amy says:

Fuller does. At least he’s doing better than what he got with Wonderfalls, which is still his best I think. Ugh, I have so much I wanna re-watch, but still so much on my pile of “new to watch” T_T
