The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Spilling some Marvel beans

MONDAY

New Star Trek Into Darkness clip where Chris Pine is totally channeling William Shatner’s scenery chewing~ Benny Batch is his usual intense self. Kudos for mantaining a straigh face at those first seconds!

Carrie Fisher confirms she’s be in Star Wars Episode VII at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, and says she’s getting in shape:

I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before. I’m glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. So I’m really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything.

Joss Whedon says he wants RDJ to play Iron Man forever and he’s saving Thanos for the grand finale. So not The Avengers 2, right? Maybe The Avengers 3?

Here’s Ben Kingsley talking about The Mandarin, or in this case his voice:

I wanted a voice that would disconcert a Western audience. I wanted a voice that would sound far more homegrown and familiar — a familiarity like a teacher’s voice or a preacher’s voice. The rhythms and tones of an earnest, almost benign, teacher — trying to educate people for their own good. Therefore, that’s the timbre that I used for him. I think it would be more disconcerting and threatening to hear almost a patriarchal voice rather than a screaming, “villainous” voice.

This Iron Man 3 poster for the cast and crew is lovely and I want it:

Michael Shannon talks about his feelings on the first time he tried to be General Zod in Man of Steel:

I remember the first couple of days I was on set, I thought This is ridiculous. I look like an idiot. I don’t look anything like General Zod. I’m a total failure. I went over to the screen for playback and it was ridiculous. All of us were wearing pajamas, basically. And there was this neon green set of stairs that was supposed to be our spaceship. So you see us all marching down these neon green stairs in our pajamas and I’m like, “This looks like a Monty Python skit.” And he’s like, “I know right now it looks pretty silly, but, two years from now, it’s going to look like the most badass thing you’ve ever seen in your life.” And he’s right.

Now that Vikings season finale has come and go, let’s talk about this~

There is going to be a new big, big character who is the King of Wessex. Wessex is a much larger kingdom than Northumbria, with a much more powerful king and also a cleverer king, a king who spent half of his young life at the court of Emperor Charlemagne. He’s a different kettle of fish. The Vikings are coming across someone with real history and real knowledge and tactics. So, Ragnar is going to be up against a very formidable foe in the King of Wessex.

But what about awesome Lagertha who got the short end of a stick because Ragnar is an ass?

What I would say, because this is historical, is that Lagertha becomes an Earl in her own right. At some stage [Lagertha and Ragnar] are going to meet again as equals.

Jamie Foxx will join Quvenzhané Wallis in the Annie movie remake and I am smiling so hard right now. Although his character won’t be named Daddy Warbucks, but Benjamin Stacks. LOL ok I got that pun.

Dammit, Hiddles might not be in The Crow remake, Alexander Skarsgård might though. As much as I like Skarsgard, I got to admit my interest in this project has diminished again. Eh, I’d still watch it.

  1. I’ve only seen two sources with this info, but David Tennant tested to play Hannibal and, if it gets a second season he’d play a killer:

@Diandra Rodriguez, at this point I just want Habbibal to get a second season. The ratings are not that good, but everyone who has watched the show loves it~

      • @Mirella, I’ve been checking up on the ratings news and it’s a very heavily time-shifted show, which might benefit it because it’s easier to keep track of actual views through DVR and OnDemand than with the current Nielsen live-airing system. It airs at the same time as Elementary in most places , though (except my area! haha! I get Elementary an hour early! so it’s a nifty crime night).
If my computer wasn’t buggy and slow, I’d keep it playing on Hulu in the background. but at least my mom catches up on it via OnDemand.
also, it’s cheaper than other shows and only thirteen episodes per season, so those factors might work in its favor.

@Diandra Rodriguez, I really hope so! It’s become my favourite new show… that and Vikings, but that’s because I am a history nerd.

@Mirella, the ratings in Hannibal wouldn’t surprise – it is, after all, Fuller we’re talking here. He doesn’t really get the best of luck with his shows. I’m happy to see Mikkelsen and Caroline Dhavernas x) The show stresses me out, though… even if I liked all the atmosphere given to it. It’s probably the most atmospheric show Fuller’s done.

With the Utah Hannibal pull out, it might have created some curiosity… or it might shut the few nails left in the coffin.

  2. amy says:

Fuller does. At least he’s doing better than what he got with Wonderfalls, which is still his best I think. Ugh, I have so much I wanna re-watch, but still so much on my pile of “new to watch” T_T
