The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: #SherlockLives

SUNDAY

Masashi Kishimoto said his popular manga Naruto is at its final phase. Well, considering how the story is going that was pretty much a given. That said, I thought Kishi could certainly make it last for another year~

The battle of Naruto and his comrades is in it’s final phase, in the truest sense of the term. About the Ten Tails, about Madara, and then, about Sasuke…I will continue to raise the tension without restraint, in every way I can! Please follow this story of a boy named Naruto a little while longer, I will greatly appreciate it.

Back to Doctor Who stuff, “The Day of the Doctor” has got a Guinness World Record for “largest ever simulcast of a TV drama”. Congrats to all Whovians!

The show was broadcast in 94 countries in total across six continents. In addition to the TV broadcast, the episode was screened in more than 1, 500 cinemas worldwide, with over half a million tickets sold.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen said they have a “two-year plan” at this point:

We had a whole pitch for them that mapped out all of the characters and the entire season, and subsequent seasons.  They had a nice idea of what it was going to be before they said yes.

Finishing the TV series theme, let’s talk about Family Guy. You know, it’s been a while since I made the conscious decision to sit and watch that show, but it still shocked me to know that they decided to kill off Brian. Here’s an interview with executive producer Steve Callaghan. He gave his reasons and talked about the new dog Vinny (voiced by The Sopranos‘ Tony Sirico), and says he doesn’t fear the backslash:

Our fans are smart enough and have been loyal to our show for long enough, to know that they can trust us. We always make choices that always work to the greatest benefit of the series.

Yeah, tell that to the #BringBackBrian guys at twitter~ Anyway, here’s a spoilery tribute:

Finally, here’s new footage of 300: Rise of an Empire from their website. Yay for my fix of half-naked men, blue cape edition!

MONDAY

Marvel finally confirms that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver respectively. Not that we didn’t know it ages ago~

Damn, Doctor Who got a great per screen Box Office! They claim it was even bigger than The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Yep, they got $13,607 to $12,300 in the US! And it even broke records on BBC America! The ratings in the UK were not that awesome (no records broke), but it was still pretty great and beat the competition with no problem. But what is Doctor Who without overly photoshopped promos? Here’s the one for the Christmas special episode titled “The Time of the Doctor”… and with that we say good-bye to Matt Smith, and welcome Peter Capaldi~

On more British news, it was revealed by Daniel Radcliffe himself that he almost quit from Harry Potter after the third movie, after wondering if he would be able to do other stuff if he did all of the movies. Thankfully, he decided to stay and now embraces the fact that he will be noticed for being Harry Potter first of all:

It’s just a fact of your life, so you can’t get annoyed by it or resent it. You have to embrace the fact that you were involved in this incredibly cool thing that did wonders for the British film industry and though you might not always be happy with the work you did on it, the opportunity it has given you to forge a career for yourself is amazing.

OMG! We’ll get an adorable LEGO game for The Hobbit, and has the totally unexpected name of Lego The Hobbit~ The game will have characters and stories from the first two movies of the trilogy. Not only that but you can play as any character of Thorin’s Company, that is Bilbo, Gandalf and all thirteen dwarves! And all of them have unique special abilities! We wants it, precious!
