The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Say my name!

MONDAY

Let’s start with the not-SDCC news for variety’s sake. Here we have the first still of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel~

Sherlock series 3 finale will be called “His Last Bow”, and will be written by Steven Moffat. Filming will begin in two weeks, and I think this is the only episode whose name is exactly the same as an Arthur Conan Doyle story.

Apparently, the newest Star Trek movie is looking for more writers, and Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz might be the ones the want. Well, they did help write Thor and X-Men: First Class, so why not? In related news, rumor has it that J.J.Abrams might drop Star Wars and has been whining about filming in England, but I find this doubtful, Abrams has always said how much he loves Star Wars.

Empire Magazine regales us with their The Amazing Spider-Man 2 covers, where one can have a better look at Spidey’s new duds!

Now back to the scheduled SDCC news, Chuck Palahniuk is working on a Fight Club sequel… in graphic novel form. Not sure if want to be honest.

It will likely be a series of books that update the story ten years after the seeming end of Tyler Durden.   Nowadays, Tyler is telling the story, lurking inside Jack, and ready to launch a come-back.  Jack is oblivious.  Marla is bored.  Their marriage has run aground on the rocky coastline of middle-aged suburban boredom.  It’s only when their little boy disappears, kidnapped by Tyler, that Jack is dragged back into the world of Mayhem.

James Gunn talks some more about Guardians of the Galaxy, including talk about Thanos and how we will finally get some casting news about Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Talking about that one, Jamus Gunn talks about the importance to do him correctly.

It’s not about creating Bugs Bunny in the middle of The Avengers. This is about creating a character that’s a little animal that was taken and experimented on and pulled apart and put back together again and implanted with cybernetics and he’s half-machine and half-raccoon. And he’s a gnarled, miserable, pretty-angry creature because there’s nothing else like him. And that’s [something] not easy to be.

OMG these teaser posters of X-Men: Days of Future Past are awesome and I can’t! Also, they are miles better than the ones from X-Men: First Class.

James Mangold talks about The Wolverine, and how the film doesn’t have any kind of “large-scale destruction”.

Well, that’s intentional. Not in reaction to anything coming out this summer because I had no idea what anyone was doing — but it was my own reaction to feeling like (A) we didn’t have as much money as those movies and (B), to use the money and metaphor a little bit: I didn’t feel like I could afford or have the interest to enter a kind of CG arms race. And I felt that I’d lose, essentially, as a smaller nation.

He also promises a bloodier uncut version of the movie for the DVD/Blu-Ray~

I do think we will have a slightly more violent version… let’s say an unrated, a bloodier version. There’s about ten or 12 minutes of scenes that I’d love people to see, that we’ll produce some kind of longer version of the movie at some point on Blu-ray or whatever. There’s another great scene with Hiro Sanada and a much more elaborate battle with ninjas from the third act that is a pretty huge battle sequence that you’ll see.

Now here are a couple of games that look like something I could actually play: Thor: The Dark World – The Official Game and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They don’t look that complicated and I like that~
