The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Return of the Ladies

FRIDAY

It’s D Day and thus here we have Benedict Cumberbatch reading the original scripts of BBC news bulletins and warnings from the day of the attack. Gave me the shivers!

Habemus cast for the BBC and HBO adaptation of JK Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy! It will include Dumbledore 2.0, Michael Gambon, and Rory Kinnear! The miniseries (3 episodes) will start filming on July 7th~

On more J.K. Rowling news, there are two chapters of The Silkworm online if you are interested in taking a peak. That’s the second book written under her Robert Galbraith pseudonym, about Cormoran Strike, private investigator, and the crimes he solves~

Welp, Kevin Smith is back for another horror film (Red State was horrifyingly good!), and here’s info about that. It’s called Tusk, and it’s kinda like The Human Centipede, except that some poor bastard is getting turned into a walrus by some crazy bastard. Oh, and that it will probably be good. No that I have seen Tusk since it’s not done yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s better than that other movie. Also, Justin Long and Haley Joel Osment.

After the rumors of Jared Leto being considered for Doctor Strange, there are news that Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch are also on Marvel’s wish list for the role. Welp, that’s some variety. It those rumors are true then Marvel ain’t sure how they wanna portrait our Sorcerer Supreme, also yay more Brits for the parts of American Superheroes! LOL.

According to Mark Ruffalo, his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be even bigger and more complex, which is great! He also seems very happy about the motion capture technology!

I’m really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff… now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers.

He talked about Andy Serkis about it, which is obvious since he called it “digital pupperty”. Ouch. Also, we are getting a great Hulk surprise “that is equally delightful as when he smashed the bejesus out of Loki.” Yay!

Apparently Ronan the Accuser is going to be “evil, evil, evil” in Guardians of the Galaxy, according to Lee Pace. Well, on one hand yay for going there, but in the other aw, let him to be evil forever! Ronan had an interesting character arc in the comics that means he shouldn’t be evil 24/7!

At first when I started working on him, I was thinking, ‘We’ve seen so many great performances of villains by very talented actors in superhero movies. I’ve got to find something relatable about this guy.’ But the more I played him, the more fun I had with just being evil.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Clint Eastwood (31), Morgan Freeman (1), Zachary Quinto (2), Dominic Cooper (2), Angelina Jolie (4), Jason Isaacs (6), Paul Giamatti (6) and Robert Englund (6).
